The old pirate sets had a lot of the palm tree pieces. Unfortunatly, you can't get those any more. I managed to get a bunch of this stuff by trading with neighborhood children that felt themselves to be too "old' for LEGO. Make friends with the (...) (24 years ago, 13-Sep-00, to lugnet.build)

I used to ignore the main model and strip all new sets for pieces in MOC's. Recently, I started building the main model if its good, but they usually are really easy. For a given project size, I've found that a MOC takes 3-5 times longer than (...) (24 years ago, 13-Sep-00, to lugnet.build)

These sets are particularly painful to find. I went on a focused search for the windows from 6416 several months ago. I managed to scare some up after trading some of my other high-value parts. I've been wondering about this same problem myself. I don't think I have 25K in LEGO, but I'd say I have at least 10K. I doubt that my insurance would cover more than 2-3K if there were ever a loss.
