Re: The Brick Testament begins the Book of Joshua

Hi, Matthew. (...) I've reviewed the passages describing the parting of the Jordan, and while the text doesn't rule out that the water piled up downstream as well, I have to agree that it would make more sense to portray this scene with only one (...) (...) The arc was pretty clear from castle to pirates to cowboys to adventurers. Not to mention Star Wars. If I have snipped out your other examples of where Lego might go next, but I think if you want to find out where Lego goes next, visit a toy (...) (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.lego)

(...) This is true, but there are some words that many people find offensive and/or don't want their kids to see. But I don't think the issue here is about naughty words. I think the issue here is with the Orwellian mode of enforcement. I'd prefer (...) (20 years ago, 1-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Bye, bye LUGNET---WHY SWEAR?

(...) The true master of language doesn't place any word in the English vocabulary off limits. In some cases, the rude word is just the correct one. Just ask Chaucer, William Shakespeare, DH Lawrence, or Henry James. Stupid use of a cuss word is (...) (20 years ago, 2-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

(...) You aren't considering how "heavy" the enforcement it is for the admins. I think that the particular model selected by Lugnet is unecessarily tough for the admins, and this example illustrates that. (20 years ago, 2-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) You are in good company! That's exactly why that usage was invented some time in the last couple of centuries. You could also read it as "Oh my gosh" or even "Oh my golly". Gosh and golly (euphemisms for God) were also invented to stop people (...) (20 years ago, 4-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Hey Brendan, Great stuff as always. Spies and the Prostitute: I wouldn't have done the sex scene, but oh well. The blue and yellow room in 2:2 is great, especially the blue axles in the yellow bricks with axle hole--great little detail. I'm not a (...) (20 years ago, 17-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

That's wonderful. I loved the typical Japanese items (such as the electricity pylons and vending machine) which are so noticable to the western visitor to Japan. Colour scheme was also spot on.
