  LEGO leaving Billund?

Check out this article from The Age: (URL) At the end it says, "As for moving production from Denmark, a decision will be made in 2007." I think selling the LEGOLAND parks was a good move because it keeps the core company focused on just the toys. I (...)   Help me convert this train program to use events (NQC)

For Christmas I'm setting up a LEGO train on top of a narrow wall, so it has to operate like a shuttle -- stop at each end and reverse motor direction. My first attempt had a train regulator attached to a polarity switch, with the switch being (...) (...) That was basically my plan if I couldn't get the light sensors to work reliably. Based on Brian's post I might go back to my original design, though. (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, FTX)

Re: Help me convert this train program to use events (NQC)

(...) I wanted the layout to be pure LEGO, but if I run out of time building this I'll break down and use non-LEGO wire and my original setup. (...) I wasn't worried about hiding the RCX, but I have seen the batteries run down very quickly. In the (...) (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, FTX)

(...) Wow! That's quite a long cable. Is this the right product? I only found it using Pitsco's search box; it's not listed in any LEGO section as far as I could tell. (URL) (...) My original setup's RCX is a 1.0 with the AC adapter. The rails are (...) (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, FTX)

Re: Any FPS or RTS AFOL modders out there?

(...) I started a Half-Life 2 mod two years ago called Block Party. Search the lugnet.gaming newsgroup for its older name, LEGOLAND, and you'll find the other posts about it. (URL) Look for a (very) limited release in a few weeks. -Jordan Bradford (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.gaming, FTX)

(...) I got to try my program tonight. It wouldn't compile, claiming EVENTTYPEHIGH and EVENTTYPEPRESSED were undefined. Eventually I figured out that I had to set the target flag -TRCX2. My compilation command is getting more and more complicated: (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, FTX)

(...) We called LEGO and the Educational division has been shut down since the day after Thanksgiving for inventory. They won't be able to ship the cables to me in time for the Christmas party I was building this for. Grrrr. Bricklink shows some (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, FTX)

  Re: Design

I imagine that if I were to ever design a robot's functions on paper first, I'd probably use a finite state machine, since FSMs map to events pretty well. The robot's functions would have to be complex enough to make it worth it, though. For code, (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Vehicle with square wheels

I saw this linked on Slashdot: (URL) Allow me to cut through the inventor's verbosity and translate the concept: The square wheels are mechanically linked and turn in unison, but they're offset from each other. (...) Slashdot had a link to an article about that vehicle, too, but it requires a specially-shaped surface to work. The one with the rotating weight works on a flat surface. (19 years ago, 6-Dec-05, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

(...) Fantastic work. I hadn't even started my attempt. I like your using the battery box as the weight -- it's very simple and compact. I noticed from the video that it tends to veer left. Are the wheels losing traction when they're fully flat? (19 years ago, 12-Dec-05, to lugnet.technic, FTX)
