Re: The realization of juniorization sets in...

(...) I don't know, this set is still very much LEGO. Sure, it is a little juniorized, but the biggest parts pretty much need to be that way to be useable, without the set being a $200 set. How many bricks would it take to make that roadway work if (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: New Model: The Devil's Gap

(...) I got them from myfamily.com - they offered $50 off $75 purchase. I ordered 2 Dacta roof pack and 1 windows and doors pack. The shipping was quite a bit, but overall the deal was worth it. -- pn (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: how does a bar code reader work?

Actually, this may be easier than you think. If you look at the MindStorms site somewhere, an ATM machine was built by an MIT student (the same guy who built the photocopier pictured on the RIS box) that scanned a 1x2 flat plate that had several (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Roboarm from Dave Baum's super book

(...) The arm itself should be just about level in the "down" position. If its level but the grabbers don't reach the table, then there's probably something wrong in the grabber assembly (or how the arm is attached to the base). If it isn't level, (...)   Re: Can't open serial port in Linux

(...) Currently there isn't any notion of an "error code" from the serial port class - opening the serial port just returns true/fals. I'm wary of adding error codes here because they'd need to be added in a portable manner (and across the Unix, (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: Anyone get Lego for XMAS?

(...) That's my view, too. I'm not bothered by the spelling nearly so much as by the people who make a big deal about it (even bigger, that is, than the deal I've made about it!). Dave! (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: pbForth problems

I don't think it is supposed to. I think it is searching for the Mindstorms signal, which the pbForth firmware does not send. I had that happen to me, and I got it to work fine(eventually)... Andy (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

barcode reader for RCX (was: how does a bar code reader work?)

(...) Well, I tried this, and it's hopeless. The RCX can't poll the sensor nearly fast enough, and even if it could you'd need a lens to focus the sensor better. (...)   Re: Post-Xmas sales????

Re LLW Sales Be aware that they didn't have a full range of the new sets when I went on Wednesday 29th. Lots of Slave 1 though none of the new large castle (£54.00) or the Tournament. The Guarded Treasury was great value at £8.99 PS if any of you (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

If anyone's looking for additional visuals for their Star Wars MOC's, the Starship Modeller site has recently added some more images: (URL) might want to have a look around the site anyway, because there's some cool stuff to be found! Dave! (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Model: The Devil's Gap

(...) Nope, too guey, it'd clog up the "murder holes" (the holes in the battlements to allow for liquids to be poured and arrows/bolts to be shot down upon the intruders). Use cream of wheat. Or grits, if you're here in "the South". :-P~~~ Franklin (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Design Question - For a newbie

(...) Not to be all alarmist or anything, but doesn't this sound like a classic Y2K problem.   The realization of juniorization sets in...
