I have managed to multiplex motor output before. How about building a single motor powered tricycle device with the second motor steering the front wheel. Then use the front wheel at right-angles position, detected by a touch sensor, to change gears (...) (27 years ago, 13-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
