LEGO robotics dis'd in CACM Forum.

Howdy, Has anyone seen the October issue of Communications of the ACM? On page 13 is a letter critical of the recent article, "Using Autonomous Robotics to Teach Science and Engineering," that appeared in the June '99, page 85. The article is all (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Rock Raiders IS a Space theme

(...) Actually, remembering from my days of higher activity in F&SF fandom, Star Wars would fit in Sci-Fi, however, Isaac Asimov would be considered an SF author, not a Sci-Fi author... These days I see the same sort of disdained distinction in (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.space, lugnet.starwars)

Re: To sell or to auction, that is the question.

(...) That's a seller option, I believe. I think you can choose 7, I KNOW you can choose 14 or 21. I had been choosing 21 but have now been going with 14. I may go 7 if I can. eBay now allows 10 as well as 7 but there's still the fixed end time (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: Brown Forestmen

(...) collar (...) What he meant was that someone took apart some 'figs and remade them (this is called a custom minifig), not that someone moulded their own pieces. Personally, I think it is probably a custom 'fig using Dark Forest parts. The two (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Does anyone else like the new helicopter landing skid piece?

(...) I do like it, though I think it would have been better if the new piece was just the skid part and not the support. Then you could use different spacings. (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.town)

  3055 set

Does anybody out there know of anyone selling, trading, or even mentioning set 3055? It is a small Adventurers themed car with Johnny Thunder and was given out as a promo for Kelloggs cereals in the U.K. If anyone can help me in this matter it would (...)   Re: To sell or to auction, that is the question.

(...) Here we go again... I'll let Larry or someone else jump in on the "fairness" of auction vs. straight sale. Yes an auction is more complicated than a straight sale, but need not take weeks or months to run (true, Auczilla runs several weeks, (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Lego Article (Re: I'm famous (or infamous))

James Brown: [...] (...) ^^^^ (...) It is only "some" of the 4e9 DKK that are bought by adult men for themselves. The question that is interesting from our point of view is how much LEGO is bought _for_ adults, not by adults. Apparently nobody knows (...)   Weapons for the Undead Army?

When I first got a force of 8 skeletons, I was rather struck with the idea of making an Undead army, perhaps under the control of Majisto (Fright Knights wasn't out at the time, way back in 1995 or so, otherwise, the Witch looks much more sinister (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Building a moon-display for your space models

I did something similar to this when I was messing around with animation back in high school. A friend and I were making an ice planet movie(it never got that far) and needed sets. I built a few by first making a frame out of 1x2s about 2x3 feet. (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.build)

  4x2ReVu: 7150 TIE Fighter and Y-wing

The pilot kicks his father's ship for the hundredth time.   Re: Blue Air Tanks

I've used a very light aluminum air freshener can called OZUIM. It's about 7-8 inches in length and a little over an inch in diameter. My guess is it is about 3 to 4 times the internal volume of the blue tanks. By removing the spray nozzle and using (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: KB KIDS.com 20% Off sale (and 50% clearance items, more importantly)

Tom, (...) Had my order for 20 rejected by KB... "quantity above limits." Figures. They finally sell something at a decent price, then don't want to let it go in any kind of volume. What's REALLY annoying is they didn't specify what an acceptable (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)
