Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) That's hardly some freak coincidence. The original 1949 Lego brick was an unauthorized copy of the Kiddicraft Self-Locking Building Brick, invented by an Englishman named Hilary Page. When the Christiansens got samples of them from the British (...) (15 years ago, 28-May-09, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) Center-to-center, of course. The stud diameters differ by 0.028 between the drawings too, creating a diff of the gaps of 0.046 (but the length of the parts are exactly the same). (...) Well, the drawings are of parts, not molds (and the parts (...) (15 years ago, 27-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) That much? Wow. I figured the distance between two studs should be closer to 3mm, since a LEGO tile is (in theory) 3.2mm thick, and it will sorta fit between two studs. Or were you refering to the center-to-center distance? Anyways, one thing (...) (15 years ago, 27-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Mechahub Civilian Mecha Contest

(...) The contest deadline has been extended to 6/6/09. Extending the contest was not a decision that was taken lightly. The pros and cons were weighed and in the end, you can't satisfy everyone. It was felt that the community would benefit with an (...) (15 years ago, 27-May-09, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Oh man.

Wow! Good to hear from you after all these years. I'll never forget the sight of your monster ship packed up in sections and squashed into the back of your car at Brickfest ;-) You can still contact me about roller bearings when you want ;-) (note (...)   Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) I'm not at liberty to say too much, but I have actually looked at three real drawings of LEGO parts, and not even TLC seems to be sure what the dimensions should be - I've seen the distance between two studs dimensioned as 8 mm on one part and (...) (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) I tried the experimental approach, built a long line of 23 x Technic beams 16 assembled with plates and measure the total length: 2937mm With 8mm distance between studs, the theoretical value is 2944mm, error is -0.23% With 5/16" distance (...) (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) Huh. I was about to point out that a 48x48 baseplate is 15" per side, but it turns out it's actually just shy of 15-1/8". Conversion gets you 381mm based on a 15" baseplate, and 384mm based on an 8mm 1x brick, and that 3mm difference is just (...) (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New LDraw Tool for Parts author: Rulers and Calipers

(...) Not for the moment - it was a scratch build yesterday evening, after I saw yours, and it is now on display in the window of my cubicle at work, just next to the display stand with 'real' calipers and micrometers and such. I might take some (...) (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.technic)

Re: New LDraw Tool for Parts author: Rulers and Calipers

(...) Nothing wrong (you nicely prove it!). Except that I wanted the probe of the depthmeter to be as thin as possible (thinner than an axle). If you have some constructions details of your calipers, that would be appreciated! Philo (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: New LDraw Tool for Parts author: Rulers and Calipers

(...) That's a nice build! Thanks for the rulers and the idea! But what's wrong with the traditional caliper design? With that you have both the width and depth measuring possibilities in the same tool: (URL) (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.technic)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) YRW :-) In a book of LEGO history I read, it was explicitely stated that the original inch based measures were changed to mm. I don't remember which year, but it was a long time ago. The distance between two studs is 8 mm. (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) When I measured a 32 X 32 baseplate it was 10 inches. From my understanding 1 LDU is about equal to 1/64 inch. The Lego company though would surely be able to give you precise meaurements. (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Brickworld - Build On The Spot Challenge

Register me too. This should be a lot of stressful fun. I will bring my own NXT and parts. Can we make Steve Hassenplug participate with one hand tied behind his back? Or blindfolded?   MacNQC 4.05b, RCX 1.0 and OS X 10.4.6 can't program the brick

Hello with a query from the past... I used MacNQC for ages on other computers but I find now that I can't write a program out to an RCX 1.0 brick using MacNQC 3.04 or 4.05b. I can send the firmware with no problem but when I try to download a (...) (15 years ago, 22-May-09, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

RCX 1.0, MacNQC 4.05b OSX 10.4 can't program the brick?

Hi, a blast from the past... My iBook running 10.4.6 has no problems downloading the firmware from MacNQC 4.05b but when I try to download a program I always get "communications error" and it fails. I've tried both the USB IR tower and the serial IR (...) (15 years ago, 21-May-09, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
