Although most of your advice is sound I'd like to make one comment : You make quite a few save steps before the end result... specially with a format such as JPEG (which is what comes out of most consumer level camera's) loads of info gets lost on (...) (20 years ago, 9-Sep-06, to lugnet.general)

Well, agree or not, Anthony's making a valid point. Some AFOLs may feel used or exploited if the event is a for-profit one, while others don't mind, so long as they get their money's worth. Standard Lego firmware samples every 3 msec. BricOS is much faster. I believe it is faster than once per second. RobotC on NXT is programmable to be 0.5 msec scan, 1 msec, 2 msec, ... up to 255 msec.
