Re: Help with redesigning a Boat Lock

(...) The 'water' and especially the boat are quite heavy, so any slippable connections would not work. The weight would also cause problems with driving the string reliably. john (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Hmmmmmm.... cough... cough....... I think Jeff had a little bit of help ;) Rob, if you come to the next dinner, and if Jeff brings the lift lock, maybe we can put our heads together and come up with a thought or two :) John (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: How to run in XP as a non-administrator

(...) Hey thanks. Permission bits, eh? Now why didn't I think of that? Oh well, I gave it a shot last night with Full access for everyone (I think), and no luck.   Re: Layout roads

(...) Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply and information. I appreciate it. I did notice that the entire layout was not made up of the 'brick road bed' technique. (...) Hey, John, Thanks for replying and sharing your thoughts. That scene looks really nice. (I had seen it before but had a mental block when looking for examples of this technique).   Re: Few things to wrap up last weekend's train show

(...) After seeing it wobbling together again at the show, I agree. Although I'm not sure that the ends of the bridge need to be INSIDE the piers - I think all my bridge needs is some vertical support at the piers. At an early show using my bridge (...)   Re: txt2dat - Create LDraw files from text

(...) Maybe it's a language thing. I've seen hints that some of the desktop.ini bits behave differently when you're set up for a different language.   Re: 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car Preview

(...) Oh, very much so! Even steam locomotive drivers (in most US prototypes I'm aware of) are held in place by gravity, much less individual freight car trucks.
