Re: New Mecha: "Troll" Infantry Support Mecha

  Linux & RCX mini-HOWTO- comments/thoughts?

Hi, everybody- Because I'm sick of Linux people telling me "I thought you couldn't use the RCX with Linux" I've put together a mini-HOWTO (for eventual inclusion in the Linux Documentation Project archives) on the use of Linux and the RCX. So far, (...) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

(...) Thinking this over, I have to admit that though Britain seems like a different sort of situation, I'm not versed enough to make generalizations. There are the facts: Caesar turned his back on Britain as if he didn't WANT to conquer it after (...) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.castle)

Re: New Mecha: "Troll" Infantry Support Mecha

(...) Thanks Greg! Yeah, I wanted it to have that military-tank feel and look. (...) LOL! No this is based on the bridge-dwelling-Troll variety. (...) (URL) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New theme suggestion - Parthia!

Hey, I found a terrific resource on the web. It helps fill in the blank in my knowledge: what was in the area between Rome, India, and China? Answer: parthia.com! Some of what Wayne Sayles calls "the other ancients". Seriously, this web site has a (...) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Jason J. Railton; de-lurking [& TVLF Trains]

(...) I am soon to start my Mallard project (still collecting the driving wheels) but I've been through the same thought processes. I am also considering using the 4.5v train motor but providing the rear set of drivers and the rear pony truck on one (...) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.uk)

  Re: Suspension

(...) You are certainly correct about this, but as the travel of the suspension is relatively short, the effect is not a problem. The setup really is very smooth. By the way, I've changed the menu on the page now, and added some 'vintage' models (...) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.build)

  Re: Multiple RCXs

If the functions you wish to perform can be done in simple tasks you could probably program each RCX to recognize a specific range of message numbers. In this way, a 'function' on the RCXs can be 'invoked' by the PC by having it send a specific (...) (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

So tell us, what are the technical details? What kind of engine? Does it have a gearbox? Any interesting functions like adjustable rollbar, etc? (26 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Concerns with Racial Attitudes and Lego

(...) No, I'm supposing that kids don't give a rat's ass about race. Kids play. It's we, the adults, who teach kids about race, or rather, skin color (given that we still are only one race, something we should perhaps also teach our kids...). (...) (...)
