Actually, the Indy Racing League is owned by Tony George, who also owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (where the 500 is run). "Indy" and "Indycar" are trademarks of the IMS. Prior to 1995, "Indycar" was used with permission by Championship Auto (...) (26 years ago, 28-Mar-00, to lugnet.technic)
