Hi, everybody.

I would like to show off my new Log Cabin using those Log bricks, but on their
sides.  Just trying to come up with more ideas on using the bricks in different
ways.

I used 4 technic beams on their sides as the foundation creating a dual X. From
the Technic beams I attached the 1x2 and 1x4 logs to make the walls of the
cabin. I included the LDR file so you can check out what I’m talking about. The
walls are only “attached” on the bottom. Even though the walls interconnect at
the corners they are not stuck together at the corners.

I will have better pictures of this model and others that I have been working on
after our COLTC show at GATS in Dayton October 11-12 2003.  If you can make it,
come buy and show your support for Lego’s during the show!

Mike,

Hey, this is real neat. I know Wild West isn't a busy group, but I'm surprised
I've never seen a log cabin like this (with the horizontal logs) ever done
before, and I'd of thought someone would have stumbled across that before. It
looks great and realistic.

Thanks,

George

Mike,

This looks awesome.  Could you take a photo with the walls off to show the
construction to those of us who don't have LDraw?  Or would that require too
much deconstruction?

Duuuuuude :) That's really cool. I really like the style and
techniques you used in this.

I also like the fact it's on the water.

I just uploaded a deconstruction of the cabin in LDR but I made a jpg for all to
see also. The deep links are below and after they are moderated the main folder
will also be available soon.

I used different colors for the Technic beams to show they are at different
levels.  Every 7 holes the 2 levels of beams are attached with a technic
connector. In between the beam are 4 bricks but at a different direction, making
up the walls. The possibilities are endless…

Thanks for you thoughts on my log cabin.

Thanks
Mike Gallagher

Mike,

It makes complete sense from that picture.  Thanks.  I'll have to try that
sometime.

Great Job Mike!

I really like building with log bricks.  Your log cabin is great and very
creative.  It is a bit close to the water though ;)

A very nice solution to a tricky problem.  I had the same basic idea a
few months ago, but couldn't figure out a good way to get windows and
doors the right way up, nor a good way to get the cross effect at the
corners.  You've solved, or neatly side-stepped, all the issues I had
problems with - and I love the stone fireplace inside, which really sets
the whole house off.

Hey all,

I just wanted to let you know that I have some more pictures of my Log Cabin MOC
from COLTC latest show from the Dayton GATS show from last weekend (Oct 11,12
2003).

Some of my pictures did not come out as I hoped but some did.

I would also like to thank every one who has replied to this post and to my
self. It was nice to hear you comments about this log cabin moc.

Hope you enjoy!
