Hello, Im new here -- I hope it is ok to do this.
I made a video of MOC and put it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixx92NkO78w
and heres a still (youll have to watch the video to find out whats inside)
Im a big fan of mechanical design, without electronics or computer control -- I
get to do plenty of that sort of stuff at work. So this design is entirely
mechanical, and entirely standard Lego parts (even the clockwork motor). Im
hoping to get some building instructions together some time. Anyone interested?
Enjoy!

Excellent! someting I didnt get is the need for the long black liftarm to stick
out past the action point. Or perhaps just an availability issue?

Thanks Philippe.
The action point is not the pivot, thats just the pivot. A little past the
pivot is a technic pin which, in the off state prevents the mechanism from
moving once it has reached the lid-closed position. So yes, it has to extend
beyond the pivot to work. I will post a MLCAD or LDraw file eventually!

Looks like it will be helpful to really understand how it really works... Thanks
in advance ;o)

Brilliant!!! I'm also big fan of purely mechnical "robots" with only a single
motor - you have taken this one step further by using a clockwork motor!
I for one would be very interested in instructions. It's not clear to me
exactly how the switch works...

| | | | Bravo, sir.
It is quite frustrating to see something amazing on the internet, have the idea
to recreate it in LEGO, further have the idea that it could be entirely
mechanical, only to have someone else execute the MOC first, and exceedingly
well, at that.
Several failed prototypes for this machine sit sadly on my workdesk.
Well done. It is the best kind of frustration to be beaten out by competence.
I, too, would love to build one of these if/when the instructions get posted.
Thanks in advance!
