I am having a hard time with which I would rather see as a legends release:
Both the original 497/928 Galaxy Explorer and the 487/924 Space Cruiser are
my all time favorite classic space sets. If I had to pick one to come back
as a re-release it would be a tough choice. I could be content with either
one while wishing for the other. What set would you guys vote for ( feel
free to expand here) ?

Well, I know it's not Space but, I'd like to see that old Technic set that
is a Truck and it morphs into a Robot. Yellow and Black were the colors.

I think I'd just be happy with certain items as opposed to sets. I think
Lego SAHS would make a killing on the old landing plates and minifig sets
(Classic or Futuron). Also, any service pack including printed bricks with
the Classic Space logo would probably sell well via Lego SAHS. But if there
was one set in particular that would do it for me it would be the Galaxy
Explorer because of the printed logo bricks, the white minifigs with crisp
new logos, a landing plate and a crater plate.
My second runner up would be the Solar Power Transporter because of it's
cool pieces and 3 minifigs (including 1 black minifig).

I would vote for every set of Space and some confirmation of whether
Legoland Space is part of Futuron/Futureworld and for Lego to include two
new sets for Space that I have been building with my meager collection, the
Gaea Federation and the Nomads.

Classic minifig set would definitely make a killing. I hoping that over
time, whatever space Legends sets are released, they cover all five of the
classic minifig colors (white, red, yellow, blue, and my personal favorite
black).
As far as sets go, Galaxy Explorer and Space Cruiser are at the top of my
list since I have neither. :-( One set that I do have that I would love to
get another is the Alpha-1 Rocket Base. Great pieces and great concept.

This brings up one of my favorite topics, the question I ask whenever I meet
a fan of Lego space.
What did the different colors of minifig mean to you?
For me, white were pilots--my first set was the old Space Shuttle, and that
white guy was clearly a pilot. Yellow were technicians, because I always
had the most of them and hey, you need a lot of techies to keep up your
fleet, right? Red were medics, for obvious color reasons, just as blue were
MPs/police. Black were so rare that they were the admirals for me.
When the Futuron-style minifigs came out, those became officers in each of
the divisions, and the classic style were the everyday working grunts.
I know some people used Star Trek colors. I had a B&W TV and was never
really into ST so that wasn't an option. What did other people do with colors?

Well, I always used the colors as a job class. Here is my current assignments:
Classic Space - Ensigns, always.
Futurons - Upper ranks, from Leiutenants (SP?) to Admirals
Let's see, my color ones:
Black - Command - I always loved Black Futurons, my mini-me wears it, and it
is just too cool!
Blue - Engineering & Sciences
White - Medical - I have not found a way to convert a Futuron one as of yet,
I am still toying around with it.
Red - Pilots / Navigation - They are rare to me, especially Red Futurons
Yellow - Security - Tactical (SP?)
The most abundant Futuron colors seem to be blue and yellow, and I think
they make up most of the folks in my little corner of the LEGO universe.

transferred it yet. I need to redo the pictures too with better backgrounds. : )

The Alpha-1 Rocket Base is probably my all-time favorite space set because
it was the first 'modern' minifig set I got when I was 6. My previous sets
were either universal sets or sets with the old minifig torsos/legs that
were molded and didn't move (specifically set 386).
I love the A-1RB. I still have about half of the special bits from it as
near as I can tell, and the crater plate has seen much use over the last 22
years and is still going strong (if a bit dusty/dirty). :)
I, personally, would love to see just about any of the original round of
space sets from 1979 come back, though the A-1RB or Mobile Tracking Station
(452) would be my key picks. 452 is small (under the current $25 mark set by
the Guarded Inn, if such is even a consideration for a Legends release), and
it would be awesome to get more of the clear antennna/shields. Not many sets
had those as I recall.

No, Yellow ones were the Marines. They were obviously the toughest of the
bunch, they went out into space naked with the Spaceman logo tattooed on their
chest.

The first Space Police sets were special forces from Futuron and the green Space Police (Space Police II) people were of a higher rank than the first Space Police (Sace Police I) people.
