For the second year in row PennLUG (Pennsylvania LEGO Users Group) will be
displaying a LEGO train layout at the Euro East
Train Show in Marietta, PA. Euro East is the largest European train show east
of the Rockies featuring several operating layouts, vendors and seminars
centered around European Trains. While PennLUGs layout isnt European themed
the organizers love the idea of LEGO trains and have asked us dispaly again this
year. If you happen to be in the area August 11th or 12th feel free to stop in.
More Info can be found on Euro Easts web site.

Hi Cale,
thanks for sharing. This is a great train layout. Not to big, not to small
and it contains all relevant things you need for such a layout like houses,
streets, cars, trucks, people, track, engines, waggons, track side stuff ...
And everything is covered with baseplates and youve used a nice cloth to
cover the tables.

I have two questions:
The steamer looks great, is there a gallery showing more detailled pics of
the loco and the tender somewhere available?
The 8wide box cars are cool. Do you have any detailled pics of the trucks
without the LEGO emement holding the wheels available?
|
I dont have galleries for the the 2-10-0 steam engine or the box cars yet but I
do have some of my other train MOCs on
Brickshelf. Including
more detailed photos of the truck design.

Howdy - nice layout there! Regarding the second pic from the top, is that
the Ghostbusters trying to contain Slimer?
|
It sure is. There is also the Ecto-1 there somewhere. They are Matt Hockers
|
I like the Civil War era cannon (mortar?) mounted on the flatcar...does the
barrel rotate or is it just on there for transport?
|
This one is Matts as well. He has a MOCpages Gallery for it that explains it in
detail. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/15055

Notes
Cale stunned us all by delivering an amazing MOC in his PennLUG Speedway. After
getting the tables assembled, we began arranging our layout. After filling in
the basics, Chris arrived with his dock assembly, which has to be seen to be
believed. It definitely steps up the quality of our overall layout. Mike debuted
his garage, which was a last minute addition and definitely filled some
unplanned gaps, while Matt and Matt came through with 2 great monorail trains
which should catch some attention with the viewers.
Most of the meeting was spent setting up for the dry run of our display for the
NMRA show. Still have several open holes in the overall layout, but should be
able to fill them in time for the show. We smoothed out several issues,
including repeated derailments and switching issues.
The meeting wrapped up around 5pm, when we finalized when to meet on the 18th,
when we will be displaying our layout at West Green Tree Church of the Bretheren
in Elizabethtown.

Topics
Changes to NMRA Layout
ILTCO seems to be having some trouble finalizing a layout, leaving us holding
the bag as far as finalizing the layout. Cale and Matt presented possible
options for the layout, depending on the final outcome of ILTCOs plans. May need
to rework the entire thing last minute, depending on the plans for the train
lines coming from surrounding groups.
Offensive Behavior
Brainstorming on more ideas guaranteed to raise eyebrows of the squeamish and
politically correct, up to and including the executions of Batman and Spider-Man
minifigs, and launching a pimped-out car with Cales trebuchet, a la recent
Volkswagen commercials.
Future Plans
Discussing possibilities for BrickFest, as well as plans for a future
tablemaking meeting.
