To All,

I apologize for the lateness of the meeting wrap-up. Lynn and I did not get
home until Sunday night at 10 PM, and work yesterday was horrid. However,
here we go! (Posted to Yahoo group as well)

Saturday, December 15th, 2001

Our latest meeting took place at the beautiful home of one of our members,
Kai Brodersen. The meeting started around 12:00PM. And a lot of people were
there!

Attendees:

Kai Brodersen
J. Spencer Rezkalla
Steve Ringe
Garry Stahl
Ken Koleda
Rick Hallman
Tony Hedglen
Jason Spears & Jamie (SP?)
Chris Leach and children (Kira & Ian (SP?)
Lester Witter

As usual, we had some choice refreshments, namely Sun Chips and a bag of
cookies my mother-in-law made. I didn't even get one they went so fast! : )

We had a whole multitude of creations there this time, and here is a partial
list:
(If you want to add links to your creations, or add some of yours here, feel
free to do so. I can't remember everything off hand)

Scott:
I brought my Shell Station store, with the interior mostly intact. I also
brought my GP 40 GTW train Engine along, which still needs work, but is
getting there. I also had some stickers I picked up at Ryders, namely some
letters and a CN switcher rail. I will get some more in later.

Chris:
Chris brought the K-8 along, and his awesome Tan building. I helped him
bring it along, we only had a "slight" accident on the way home.

Garry Stahl:

Garry brought along his Visitors Center, which is very nice. I am still
marveling of his inverted slope roof technique. He also brought along his
extended Mission to Mars vehicle, which is too cool!

Spencer:

Spencer brought along his World Trade Center Towers, which is spectacular. I
am still balking at the number of light gray tiles he had to use. Way to go,
Spencer!

Jason Spears:

Jason and Jamie brought their numerous older downtown style buildings, and
his yellow hotel, which is HUGE! That, and the crazy 8 radio station. Great
job Jason!

Rick Hallman:

Rick brought along Confed's vast collection of fighters and other ships.
Rick is a great ship builder. Rick, the TDF would love to buy some stuff for
you, so LMK!

Lester Witter:

Lester brought his current train engine, we were trying to figure out how to
get a custom train body to work, I am unsure if we succeeded or not, I am
not sure I did on mine, either!

After our usual drooling and the like in regards to models, we did sit down
and spend some time working on some of the plans needed for our upcoming
GATS
show. We discussed layout, track, plates, etc. We will continue that, as I
do have a list here, and we will try to get taken care of today.

We also voted on a few items here: (Any items or comments I forgot please
feel free to post / respond)

1) After the fundraiser, Tony informed us that the priest gave our club
100.00 for doing that show. We voted to use the funds to get some more
plates. (Chris, please  e-mail me in regards to this)
2) We voted to use any of the winnings from this show to pay for the rest of
the plates we need, we will need to get a final count before going on.
3) We voted to incorporate the cost of digitizing the MLTC logo to be placed
on the initial batch of shirts. Discussion did follow in terms of future
shirts as well.
4) We voted to assist Steve pay for the rest of the barriers we will need
for the upcoming show.

We also discussed the kids tables, I agreed to pay for Steve's cost, as he
has some ideas to get that done. That should be no problem for the show.

Another issue is the Under 18 policy. After a lot of discussion, we decided
the best way to approach it is to have a separate area if people would like
to join. If they would like to join, and if they are under 18, we would need
to have a parental permission form, like the ones at school, in case they
need medical attention (Garry brought that to light, thanks!) Kai, we will
need to get that form and have that ready.

We will need to address each under 18 person differently, and it needs to be
a case by case basis. I feel we need to have a few people we can call on in
case parents have questions. I can do it, maybe Larry, Chris, Amy, etc.

We also decided that if anyone comes to any of the meetings or shows, and
they are under 14, they will need to have a parent of guardian along. We
will need to add this to our website ASAP. Amy, please feel free to e-mail
me in regards to this. We need to do some haggling on it, I think.

We also discussed some MichLUG items that we will need to address:

1) Membership Packs - After a lot of thinking on my part, and due to some of
the e-mails and questions I have received, I decided to start making a
membership to those who wish to join MichLUG. I will pay for all costs
associated with this, but I feel we need to go in this direction to have a
formal membership structure.

On our website, we decided to have a how to join link. Maybe a simple form
that can be e-mailed o me, and I will take it from there. Say participate in
the MichLUG forum on LUGNET / Yahoo, come to a meeting. If they want to be
an actual member, they will get a membership pack containing the following:

1) Official MichLUG certificate (Nice paper and border I got)
2) Official MichLUG Key chain (With MichLUG and MLTC logo on it)
3) A letter of welcome from MichLUG (Signed by us, etc.)
4) A small Shell Set from your favorite Theme (New members only!)

In order to get the pack, you will need to go to a meeting. If you have any
questions, suggestions, whatever, LMK. If you would like  a key chain and /
or a
Membership certificate, please e-mail me and I will get one to you. It will
not be until after our shows, however. : ) I will pay for all of this, as I
think it is needed. If you have any better ideas, now is the time!

MichLUG webpage:

As most of you now, Amy Hughes is our website administrator, and she has
done a great job. We decided we need some additional items on the site, and
here they are:

1) Mission Statement on the home page of MichLUG: (I will add it later, I
have to go to work soon)
2) Next Event - on home page
3) How to Join info page
4) Under 18 policy (Form can be downloaded or whatever)
5) MLTC logo somewhere

Amy, if you need help or directions, please e-mail me. Rick said he has the
logo in case you need it. I will also need a good copy of the MichLUG logo
and MLTC logo for the key chains.

Anyway, a few of us departed and went to Steve's House to scope out his new
area. Simply awesome. He showed us his new and improved Switchyard and
roundhouse, just simply incredible. Steve, you are crazy! I won't reveal the
details. : )

I will add more to this post, I have to go to work, yippee!

Amy & All,

We decided we need some additional items on the site...

I'm off work all next week plus some. 11 Days. 264 hous. In true Amy fashion
I've planned about 300 hours of stuff for that time, including updating the
MichLUG site and ... cough ... finishing my church.

Must be nice! ; )

One of us in the engineering department has to be here, and since my
supervisor is not, I get to be. Bah humbug! I can't wait to see the finished
product though (Church)!

If anyone would like to volunteer to draft some text for some of the new
items for the site, please email me.

I will start on that ASAP.

It'd also be great if someone could gather together links to all the
pictures from the last meeting (the one at Rick's church). I need to move
that from the "coming events" to the "past events" page.

Right. Here are a few links:

Spencers:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=7658

Scott's:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=7695

Jason's:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=7691

If anyone has pictures and I did not get you, please reply and add your link.

I accidentally unsubscribed from the yahoo group and I don't have Larry's
invitation any more, so I'd have to grovel to get back on. I'm not inclined > to do that since I'm not fond of the ads, so if there's anything that's been
exclusively posted there that should be on the website, please let me know.

Oh, good point I forgot to include. Here is our official stance on the
MichLUG LUGNET / Yahoo Group posting:

1) The LUGNET MichLUG forum should include all dates and announcements of
meetings, directions, etc. Anything that has to do with club business should
be here, in case someone who is not on Yahoo can see it.

2) MichLUG Yahoo - This should be used primarily for items we do not want on
LUGNET, say a certain business transaction or whatever.

If at all possible, please post to both, I would rather have to many
messages than not enough. It is possible, even if it gets funky sometimes.

We probably should have a how to join our Yahoo groups as well. I will work
on it.

No groveling required. If any member wants on the list and isn't on they
have but to drop me a line and I will be happy to reinvite them. You have
but to ask.

Uuuuummmmm....  I know I expressed interest in becoming part of MichLUG in
the past, but things came up as they often do, and I never got to
contribute.  I would love to get a Yahoo invite so I can at least know
what's going on with you folks.  I still very much want to be a part of the
group, but work has kept me plenty busy and my wife and I are expecting our
first BFOL in March, so I won't have much time until late summer at least,
but if I can throw my $.02 in from time to time, I'd appreciate it.  And if
I can loan out a structure to your displays, I'd be more than happy as well.

Eric & All,

Uuuuummmmm....  I know I expressed interest in becoming part of MichLUG in
the past, but things came up as they often do, and I never got to
contribute.

That darn thing called life. How come it has to interfere with things vastly
more important? ; ) Totally understandable.

I would love to get a Yahoo invite so I can at least know
what's going on with you folks.

You can e-mail Larry P for that, his e-mail is lpieniazek@mercator.com
The website is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/michlug_ltc/

I still very much want to be a part of the
group, but work has kept me plenty busy and my wife and I are expecting our

but if I can throw my $.02 in from time to time, I'd appreciate it.

Feel free anytime, you are always welcome! : )

And if
I can loan out a structure to your displays, I'd be more than happy as well.

Cool. Feel free to e-mail me at ssanburn@skyenet.net or ssanburn@indalex.com
and we can talk more. Thanks for the note!
