Hi all,
GardenSLUG will be hosting a meeting in central New Jersey on Saturday, May
third. We're hoping to have a large turnout of the GardenSLUG regulars and by
opening the invites to surrounding communities and clubs, drum up some
wider-area interest and collaboration.
The agenda for this is wide open but we would like to make sure that it is a
fun day for everyone involved. If you are interested and would like to see
something happen, let me/us know or just come prepared to make it happen and
maybe it will. As you can see from
http://www.biomechanicalbricks.com/GardenSLUG/id3.htm I'm up for building,
planing, talking, building, playing, trading, building, wishing, peeking at our
new K8, building, showing off MOCs, eating, building, drinking, runing trains,
building, and whatever else.
If you are a little farther away (I guess I've included groups as far as a five
hour drive--Boston) but would consider coming anyway to have fun and build
bridges (or forts or trains or ships or houses...), we could put a few people
up so that you wouldn't have to drive home that same day. Contact me for
details if you're interested.
We'll begin whenever people arrive (ten, noon, two, whatever) and end when
people leave or fall asleep. A more distinct timeline will evolve as the time
draws closer. We can have sandwich makings and chips and soda and beer or
order out (or even go somewhere) for food, whatever people want.
If you are interested but there is some one thing that's keeping you from us,
please let us know what that is as we are interested in broadening our regional
participation and getting to know you. If you're interested in meeting the
other local LEGO nuts but are shy about getting together with internet weirdos,
come early and get to know the first few people and be 'established' as others
arrive -- we're good folks.
I'm preparing travel instructions from five directions and I'll distribute them
via email to those who want them.
I hope to see you there,
Christopher Weeks - GardenSLUG

Chris,
This is great...thanks for offering your hospitality! I think I can make
it, but it will depend on how far along my final projects are. I also think
that by then I can have some new stuff to share.
And what's your definition of "central"?? ;-)
ciao&salaam,

D'oh! My question had already been addressed. That's what I get for not
really reading the newest messages of the section. ;-P I'd say that
Hillsborough is definitely central, which means I don't have to drive
much...yay!
Okay, later.

This meeting is go. I've email directions to the GardenSLUG list and to those
individuals who emailed me. If anyone else is interested, please let me know
ASAP so we can plan appropriately (I'd like to have a count).

Hi gang,
Maelee and I wanted to thank GardenSLUG for the invitation to join the
group this past Saturday. Thanks go to Chris Weeks and family for hosting
the event. I really enjoyed sharing my creations with the group as well as
getting to see your creations. Pictures are nice, but nothing beats seeing
the creations in person. I really enjoyed talking about the design and
building of your MOCs.
Thanks again for having us,
- Jim F.

Hey Jim, Likewise, it was nice to have you both. Your Mecha MOCS were very
cool. I realy liked them. Of course I have a soft spot for stuff like that.

Thanks to all who attended and to Chris and Family for being great hosts.
It was my particular please to meet some folks for the first time that I
have been wanting to meet.
Amoung all the pleasantries exchanged, we did some building. We made a
Moonbase Module:

We lacked the proper colors for the connecting corridor, so we figured we
would switch them out for the correct ones later. It was fun and the concept
of the Moonbase Modules is so great. It really helps bring people and MOCs
together! We hope to add to the collective at Brick Fest 03.
I also had the supreme pleasure of presenting a 98% completed Jama Technic
Robot to a crowd of real people for the very first time:

Thanks all! We hope to meet again before Brick Fest.

Or if someone was to build a module with a corridor that matched ours
on one side, we could blend it in with a larger gardenslug moonbase?

Hey all,
I had a great time as well. I really enjoyed meeting everybody and being
treated with a bunch of MOCs, one in particular in action. (;-)
I hope we can arrange to meet twice before BrickFest, although I know
eveyone's schedules are different.

Hey All,
I'll join in and say I had a great time, too. This was my first GardenSLUG
meeting and I wasn't disappointed. Thanks to Chris and family for hosting.
Seeing Jama up close is amazing. When he's right in front of you, you can
really get a sense of the grand scale that Eric designs to. We should have
brought Jama out on the deck for the group shot. I think he's big enough to
be considered a full-fledged GardenSLUG member.

Paul, it was good to meet you as well. Thanks for comming to Chris' for the
meeting. Your compliments on Jama are much appreciated. Ha, one of our
members is a Robot! We'll have to do that for the next group shot. LOL!
