Several years ago, in a computer controlled machining class, I designed my first clone brick--in aluminum. The bricks are exactly the same size as the offical thing, and work pretty well with each other or with “the leading brand.” Mostly it was a fun little CNC project, but it also made a much more durable keychain than an ABS brick. I designed a fixture to hold a couple at a time, and made several dozen bricks, which sold quite successfully.

After being out of stock several years and not having access to a CNC mill, I finally found a way to make more. You can get your own at http://shop.bldesign.org/

Right now, I’m offering custom engraved logos or text on each brick, but I can’t promise that option will be around for long, so if you would like a personalized design, please pre-order as soon as possible!

Hope you like them!

Like them? I love them! I bought a pair of the aluminum bricks almost as soon as I heard about them, and as a matter of fact I was just showing them to my four-year-old this afternoon.

To anyone who’s considering buying a few: stop thinking about it! The answer is “YES--BUY THEM!”

They’re super-cool, and they do indeed work very well with “real” LEGO bricks. I’ve been a clone-brand fan for over a decade, and I give these a huge thumbs-up. Heck, even LEGO purists would find little to complain about in these very cool elements.

I’m delighted to hear that they’re available once again!

Dave!
