OK.... this is going to be the strangest LEGO offer ever on LUGNET...
I have four 8 settings dinner service that I've been wanting to sell. They're
too heavy to ship to sell on EBAY... and the folks in North Carolina
(Replacements Ltd.) only offer $2 per piece for everything that you want to sell
them... whether it's expensive Royal Doulton China or anything. The bother of
packing this and shipping it to the Replacements Ltd. folks isn't worth the
bother.
So I'm offering a china place setting for 8 (8 cups, 8 saucers, 8 salad plates,
8 soup bowls, 8 dinner plates, a sugar & creamer, and a large vegetable serving
bowl) plus 5 extra serving pieces... ALL FOR FREE... to any Michigan resident
who buys one of my LEGO DVD downloads... for $29.95 total. That's something
like 55 cents per piece for this UNUSED china.
It's a Nautical pattern (great for Michigan) that shows the Compass Rose (as
seen on all modern and historical maps), and the cups, sugar & creamer all have
a similar almost Art Deco design.
Here's the pattern (and yes the sugar and creamer are selling at $17.95 each)...
http://search.replacements.com/texis/search?mode=&opts=&pr=Meta_20120806&dropXSL=html&prox=page&rorder=500&rprox=500&rdfreq=0&rwfreq=0&rlead=1000&rdepth=0&sufs=1&order=ClientCount-d&query=Victoria+%26+Beale+Montana&submit=Submit
This is at least a $200-$300 service... (these are UNUSED). But these were
bought long ago for a Heslop store closeout... and I'm tired of them taking up
so much space.
The catch is... you have to come to my house in St. Clair Shores MI to pick them
up, and then I will send you the LEGO DVD download.
All for $29.95.
Also, I'll include Windsor Ontario (and environs) to the geography extent.
The only prices I have besides the sugar and creamer are these 2 pieces...
http://www.replacements.com/webquote/VBEMON.htm#2188184
And if you want to buy 2 or 3 or all 4 settings of 8... help yourself... I may
have some actual DVDs left over into the mix.
Like I said... this is a strange offer... but since Michigan is a Nautical area,
this service is perfect for a soiree on the quarterdeck of your pleasure craft!
:)
If anyone wants to order...
http://legocollectorsguide.weebly.com/
If by chance you want a DVD... DO NOT pick a selection involving mailing... if
you're going to pick it up... why would you want to pay a mailing charge? :)
Cheers,
Gary
P.S. I would even include as far away as Toledo... and like I said... if
someone wants to buy a place setting of 16 versus just 8... help your self! :)

Maker Faire is an event created by
Make Magazine to celebrate arts,
crafts, engineering, science projects and the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset.
Maker Faire has been held in the Bay Area (SF, California) for a number of
years, and BayLUG has participated, quite spectacularly. Maker Faire is
expanding to come to more places... among the places its coming this year will
be the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in
Dearborn, Michigan. It will be held 31 July and 1 August, 2010, a weekend. All
Makers are encouraged to attend.
The Call for Makers went out yesterday. If youre a Maker (we all are Makers!)
and youre able to get there, you should consider registering.
What to show off? Well, you should probably plan to show just one thing or one
related set of things, rather than get spread too thin trying to show off
everything youve ever Made. Things that move are especially welcome. So bring
those bots, those Great Ball Contraptions, those remote control models, and your
train layouts! But anything that shows off something neat about our hobby is
certainly welcome. Sign up early, the cut off is 31 May 2010.
Heres the link to register: Call for Makers for Maker city Faire
Hope to see you there!!!!

Greetings to my fellow Michigan AFOLs!
The third annual Brick Bash will be held on Saturday, March 24, in Ann Arbor.
Brick Bash is a public LEGO exhibition for all ages, where we present many
different LEGO creations and hands-on experiences for the public to see and
experience. Last year we had thirteen exhibitors and 700 visitors. An
additional feature of Brick Bash is education, and to that end we also include
some hands-on learning experiences, such as free robotics lessons provided by
one of our Gold Sponsors, Rocks and Robots summer camp.
All AFOLs are invited to come show off their LEGO creations and have some fun
for a day. Admission is free, for both exhibitors and visitors. This invitation
is for individuals as well as the whole LUG.
Let me know if youre interested. More info at www.BrickBash.com.
Thanks,
Duane Collicott / Bricks for Brains

OK,
Usually the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't" always
comes to mind. But this is legit.....
A friend got a large grocery bag of Lego from an acquaintance, and gave it to
me.
Well when I got it, there were something like $420 worth of Lego sets in this
collection, without boxes, but with instructions. All pieces are in excellent
condition (nothing chewed up or worn).
I don't collect these sets, and I just want to get rid of them to a worthwhile
Southeast Michigan AFOL. First person that gets to my house can have the entire
lot for only $30. (Email contact first)
Why so cheap.... I'm still working on finishing up the Lego Set/Part History CD,
and I don't even have time to sort thru them. And I am already up to my neck in
Lego!!
There's lots of space stuff (Star Wars, Rock Raiders, Insectoids, Life on Mars),
as well as some Adventurers and Egyptian sets.
Here's the list (some of the smaller ones have duplicate sets):
2151, 3332, 4477, 4485, 4487, 4489, 4940, 5918, 5936, 5938, 6155, 6327, 6429,
6441, 6442, 6454, 6455, 6462, 6491, 6492, 6567, 6712, 6836, 6856, 6905, 6969,
7126, 7127, 7311, 8008, 8535.
I don't know if anything is missing out of these sets, so I'm selling them in as
is condition. (You can always get replacements on Bricklink).
The buyer would have to drive to my house ASAP to get the LEGO.
And maybe get a peek at the upcoming Lego CD, as well as see some Lego items
that they don't even have in the Lego Archive in the Vault in Billund!
Whoever can get here to pickup this Lego the soonest has the best chance of
getting it.
Gary Istok
istokg@earthlink.net
P.S. If you live in the Windsor Ontario area, or Toledo Ohio, I won't turn you
away as the buyer....

Chicago House of Bricks will once again be held in conjunction with To Be
Continued! A fine cut of LEGO will be served with savory science-fiction,
buttered fantasy, and field-fresh gaming. But the piece de resistance will
be the fun camaraderie had by all. Come join us May 12-14 in Downers Grove,
Illinois!
2BeCONtinued brings together fans from all domains. Last years attendees
mingled with celebrities, comedians, pirates, artists, and more. This year
looks to be just as exciting. Though HoB is held in conjunction with a science
fiction convention, all themes are invited to attend (the train layout was a
crowd favorite last year).
Visit our website for more
information.
We hope to see you there!

Im very happy to announce that registration for Chicago House of Bricks at To
Be CONtinued 5: Legends is now online. Prices and information for registration
can be accessed here.
Registration is not exclusive to House of Bricks and will allow attendees access
to all areas of the convention. To Be CONtinued 5: Legends is being held at the
Doubletree Guest Suites and Conference Center in Downers Grove, which can be
seen here.
For Dealer information, please click on the Dealers link on the sidebar.
Whats really neat is that the Guest of Honor of this convention is
Weta Workshop, the effects facility that was
responsible for the visual effects to all of the Lord of the Rings movies and
King Kong.
Currently, plans are for a Great Ball Contraption and sci-fi models. Attendees
are encouraged to bring models that tie into the movies mentioned above, as
there is a nice SPACE to fill!
If you have questions or comments, please post them to
lugnet.events.houseofbricks, as others may have similar questions. Questions can
also be sent to HoB@2BeCONtinued.com which will forward to me as well as other
members of the ToBeCONtinued staff. Please refer to the following list of event
coordinators for any specific question.

As promised in this teaser thread...
I am happy to (at long last) announce that Milton Train Works™ has been, as
overall contractor, with significant help from members of MichLUG, working in
partnership with Kelloggs Cereal City USA™ to provide the statues and displays
for their Summer Block Party 2005.
This has been a pretty busy spring for us, and its been hard to keep quiet
about it! ... but we delivered the display case contents (4 cases, 4 themes,
town, castle, space and aquazone) two weeks ago and the statues last week...
everything will be on display all summer. For more information please visit the
KCCUSA site or their block party
page or the Milton Train
Works KCCUSA pages,
or ask questions here and participants will try to answer!
This never would have come together without a lot of help from a large number of
people including:
- Jim Garrett - Jim helped out with construction on Tony, doing much of the torso musculature.
- Ken Koleda - Ken did much of the image processing for, and helped out with construction of, the Froot Loops box.
- Purple Dave Laswell - Dave helped with Tony the Tiger, doing the upraised hand, and other details.
- Chris Leach - Chris was Lead Artist for the Froot Loops box.
- Nik Pieniazek - Nik was responsible for the undersea display.
- Spencer Rezkalla - Spencer was Lead artist for Tony the Tiger, by far the largest statue in the project.
- Steve Ringe - Steve was Lead artist for Pop!®, Steve also had design and fabrication responsibility for all the bases and armatures.
- Jason Spears - Jason was Lead artist for Snap!® and Crackle!®. Jason also was the display coordinator and the bulk of the display items are his. As President of MichLUG Jason served as the executive liason to the club.
In addition to the above
MichLUG members
that worked very hard to design, develop and build the displays, the statues and
their associated armatures and bases, a special thanks goes out to Aaron Sneary
for advice, and to Bob Kojima for Bricksiac. We couldnt have done it without
them!
Also thanks go to a few special sellers who were able to source the parts we
needed in the quantities we needed. If you were having a hard time finding good
quantities of orange or red 2x4 bricks this spring, now you know why! (I would
have preferred to be thanking LEGO® here, but alas, it was not to be)
Lastly we have to thank our spouses, friends and co-workers who all no doubt are
tired of how much we talked about how we cant talk about why we were so busy.
We hope to see folks at KCCUSA this summer, it should be a lot of fun.
