The first batch of pictures from RichLUG's first train show display has been
loaded to Brickshelf.  So far we mainly have pictures of the various scenes
and buildings that can be found around our town Brickmond.  We'll have more
pictures (including ones of the actual trains) after this weekend.  The
address for the folder is:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8048

We are currently participating in the 24th Annual RF&P Train Show at the
Science Museum of Virginia here in Richmond.  The show is spread out over
two weekends - the 10th & 11th will be the last two days for the display.

We've had a great time so far putting together the display and spending two
days showing it off to the public.  We're getting all the expected "oohs &
aahs" and "I didn't know LEGO made trains!" and are already making plans for
things to be bigger and better next time.  The other model railroaders have
made us feel welcome and expressed an appreciation for the display.  Luckily
none of them have tried to "talk trains" with me too much so they don't know
how deficient I am in locomotivology.

I hope folks enjoy the pics.  Let us know what you think.

Greg

P.S. Brickmond is a collaborative effort between the following members of
RichLUG:  Tim Freshly, Greg Perry, Rich Schoonover, Bert Waters and Sal from
New York (Rich's father-in-law who built the casino and brought it all the
way down from Buffalo for the show).

See! - that's exactly the kind of ignorance I'm trying to hide.  Thanks
Frank.  Now I have a word to bandy about at next weekend's show. Now how to
insert it into an "everyday" conversation...

Yes, Greg's fruit stand and outdoor concert module is very creative.
Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.  Bring some trains to run if you
can.

Dear Mr. wubwub -

Thanks for the compliments.  I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures and look
forward to seeing you and others at the show this weekend.

I'm glad you posted because this gives me the chance to say that I was
inspired to build my Grand Gazebo (a Brickmond public works project gone
somewhat stylistically sour) and Brass Band after seeing a similar MOC of
yours back last year (I think I'm correct in thinking that you had built a
gazebo/band for a WAMALUG display).  Thanks for the idea.

Come on down to Brickmond y'all!

Greg

...:-) Yea. I don't remember when I made that thing, but I saw someone do a
marching band with the trumpeters and immediately thought of a park gazebo. Nice
to see the ideas carried on and improved :-)

Come on down to Brickmond y'all!

...Hope to be there Saturday!
