Webster is out of date - patina simply means a weathered and/or age-darkened finish to antiquers, and can apply to copper, bronze, nickel, wood, etc, etc, etc. Weathered GREEN would make the most sense, as people would instantly know it is a shade (...) (...) As an aside, Sunday morning on NPR's Weekend Edition a story mentioned 'verdigris' and 'patina' (and i thing 'aged copper') in the same sentance. (...) I looked up the definitions. To paraphrase, "the color of patina is verdigris". Patina is a surface film. Verdigris is a color.
