Temporarily available: 52 MB MPEG LEGO Castle animation

This animation was handed to me by a student. It was made by friends of him.
I'd like to credit the authors but don't know their names yet. Because of
the large file, this will be on my site only for the time being.

Don't get confused by the fake 'Danish' commercial at the start.

Unbelievable!  Thanks so much for hosting this incredible animation for the
moment.  We simply must find someone to store this file permanently.  Kevin

Wow, that is so cool! The way the castle constructed itself, the
minifigs, just awesome. I could see a three or four hour movie with each
theme. Awesome! If anyone wants to see it, I can send it to them. It is
a bugger to download.

Man, that was GREAT!  Too bad it's so large, finding a permanent home for it
will be tough.

Maybe Todd or Kevin can host it?

I have a ton of space free on my webserver. Anyone mind if I trim off the

Whoa!  I thought so, too!  When it first started playing, I thought "Wait!
That can't be Danish, its a Japanese voice actor!"  :)

LOL that is a real good show.  Any B5 fan will have a kick with the music.
LEGO should take note - this is now commericals and how LEGO SETS should be
made - piece by piece not burp by burp.

Although with the extreme production values employed with the visuals I'm
surprised they ripped the score... it did make for nice emphasis on
brick-landings however.

I like it!

In a ideal work, Lego would do one of these for every set.... it would help
bring the themes alive for kids!

BTW 1 : Is the "dead head" made by TLG?

BTW 2 : Lego is ideal for this sort of animation, as the elements do not flex as
they move... only pivot about joints. This is why robots etc are a favorite for
budding animators... a friend used to animate crabs!

I wish I wish I wish I WISH I had a sound card here at work... But the
animation was amazing! Did anyone else notice the mistake on the blue shield
above the entrance (Right hand side)? The texturemap of the blue shield image
was off-center (but you could still make out the image on the edges of the
shield)

I've mirrored this on my site in the US at:

http://troy.simplenet.com/lego/animation/

I've also put a recompressed version there that is less then half the file
size.  It is more heavily compressed then the original, and only has 8 bit
mono sound compared to the original 44khz 16 bit stereo sound.  The image
size is only slightly smaller then the original 386 pixels, as the software
I used only supports 640 or 320.

In any event, it is still very watchable, and might give people with slower
connections a chance to see it.  If I ever get Premiere to work, I will
break it into smaller chunks, perhaps 5mb each or something.

Troy

I downloaded this beast.  It took 4 tries - the first one ran out of disk
space (I had no idea I was so low), then next 2 attempts got disconnected
after about 75% of the way.  Finally, I finished it this morning.  I can put
it on disc and bring it to the next Baylug meeting if anyone needs/wants me
to.  I only ask that they reimburse me for the disc.

Mike Poindexter

PS:  I got the original one, not the recompressed one Troy Ceferatti made,
so it has the larger picture and full stereo sound.

If out of town people mailed you CD-Rs and return postage would you be
willing to burn one for them?

I have a stack of CD-Rs that are surplus to requirements (they have old
corporate badging) so the cost to me would be only the postage..

For most people's requests, I would say no, unless they throw in some kind
of ABS compensation from my wants list.

http://www.sirius.com/~latha/lego/wanted.htm

I will make an exception to the part requirement for a few, select people.
You offered to help me out with large gray baseplates in the past, so you
wouldn't have to throw in anything.  :-)

(What goes around comes around)

I will also throw on a few other Lego type files I have downloaded, such as
"Ohio Dan vs. The Silver Brick" and a couple of animations I have found.
