My 'ups and downs' lego week

I've had some truly tiring and confusing ten days. It was full of ups and
downs, especially ups but some serious lego downs.
I just feel like sharing my experiences, so if you really don't care, don't
let that bother you, and don't read on :).

Last Saturday I was scheduled to fly to Florida from NYC. Before I left I sent
out all my over-looming trades, and as a special treat managed to order a
second 6097 for $25 (kbkids had a 'Surprise of the day' thingie). I had also
received (a bit earlier) three 6038s which excited me very much (my first
WPs!).
I had an extremely fun week in FL with my family, especially since my sister
came to visit from Israel. The highlights of the week included (other than
spending time with my sis whom I hadn't seen since october): my sister brought
a portion of my lego collection from Israel, lots of presents were sent to us
from relatives, we visited Disney World and other various theme parks.

On the fifth day (I think) I discovered Scar was gone. I wasn't yet sure if
she reeally was gone, but it started to sink in. I realized I had probably
lost her and was very disappointed.

After my sister left for NY my parents took me to the Lego Imagination Center
in Downtown Disney. It was really fun, even though I spent some money on sets
that I could've gotten for less. LIC had lots of featured models and
showcases, some rare-ish sets, service packs, etc. The store is directly under
TLC as is obvious from the tons of pencils, mugs, shirts and accessories that
I've seen before only in legoland shops. (This was confirmed by their card -
S@H numbers).

When I came back (after a tiring drive to from NYC to Boston that ended at 5
a.m. :-) I had LOTS of catching up to do. My email account was swamped and the
things I missed on lugnet could fill a book. Our mail (fortunately taken in by
our neighbor) included my 6097 and a few trades I was expecting.

I discovered that a trade I sent out in an ordinary envelope got ripped open
and lost. I learned that lesson the hard way - obviously I had to send
replacement items. From now on I'm taking better care of these...

Then I posted about Scar's disappearance. Within two days I've been offered
all the replacement pieces I need. Many thanks to everyone who suggested help,
tips and, of course, the pieces themselves...

Well, that about sums up my week. It has been both exciting and disappointing,
with many high and low points...
Enough rambling, now! Bye,
-Shiri

(...) Silly me. I forgot to mention that mixed in with all the misc. pieces was a partially complete Majisto's Magical Workshop set. I was happy to see it, it is one of my favorite sets (that I own, that is) and it brought back happy memories... The (...) (24 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.castle)

Not to make your ups and downs seem like nothing, though right now I'd give away every single piece of my Lego to not have to put my 20 year old cat down this week... some things you can live without much easier than others :( (...) I'm glad to hear (...) (24 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

Glad to hear you got Scar back (in a manner of speaking)! This is off-topic and irrelevant, Shiri, but since you lived in Israel, I'm wondering if you speak Hebrew. -- Paul Davidson, aka Tinman www.theforce.net | Your Daily Dose of Star Wars (...)
