After seeing some of the figures and creations out there, I started thinking if
there is any interest out there at all to figuratively "put together" some of
our creations and ideas to one web-site and maybe create one cool story around
it ...
What I see is a HUGE kingdom with many people pitching in characters with their
own individual personalites and backgrounds. This would also apply to
buildings, cities, villages, etc.
I just thought it would be neat for all of us to contribute to one giant project
while working on our little ones ... Any ideas (oh yeah - they're out there:)?
The website for this would include an image map of the Kingdom with links to
individual sites (Strombrachter can very well be one little city on the map).
The page would also include a place for characters (so you can submit your
favorite heroes and villians, kings and queens...), and clans (collections of
families and armies).
Let me know if this is worth getting off the ground - I think that once it were
done, first of all, it would finally have most of the creations in one easy to
find place, and if anyone (me especially) would suddenly become un-inspired, he
or she could go there to browse.
I also see anyone contributing - whether it's a single character or a single
building. As you can tell, I am very idealistic here;)
Let me know!

I was just reading the lugnet long term plan and wondering if Todd would get
to doing that!
I'd love to contribute, I have some characters already, + some planned stuff
that I hope to have ready soon! Also, being a virtual display, one can make
lots of characters using one sought-after element (i.e. many different maidens
using the same hat - pictures taken at different times, etc.).
Anyway, I'd love to help! Great idea!

... quick note: Can anyone out there draw a cool map (no cities or nothing yet
- just a mountainous region, a huge lake, a forest, some plains, rivers, and a
rather large island at sea ..)? I KNOW we have people with mad skill here -
even the lurkers;) I think that that should be the starting point - and then we
would divide the map as seen fit and colonize from there.
Just continuing to think ...

I think it's a cool idea - I'd gladly contribute the Blank Shields to such a
universe!

(the page is way out of date, but I've got an update waiting in the wings)

Hey nothing wrong with being idealistic :-). I think this is a great idea. Of
course anything I have posted so far is available to be included. I would
assume that you would do something where you just linked from the map or a
single picture of a creation to the persons web page who created it. So
essentially this would be a very fancy and elaborate "Links Page"? Sounds good
to me.
What about those that don't have a Web Site but would like to contribute a
picture of a character? Would you accomidate them? Obviously it would not be
as elaborate as a page they created for themselves but maybe a picture or two
could be included if the work is not to much for you.

Well, your site inspired me to come up with my own (ridiculously complicated,
multi-generation) backstory (including gods), and start building models to
illustrate key events in the history. It's Ninja/Japanese-themed (I'm learning,
so it's sketchy, someone from Japan would probably laugh their head off), and
if you have a place in the world to put it I'd be happy to take pictures and
have them scanned in.
I need at least one major river that winds though a very low desert valley
(later flooded, turns into a swamp), a higher, large, barren and rocky plain on
one side of the river, fertile land somewhere along the river where a lake is
formed, and a large muddy delta at the end of the river. This about covers the
baseplates I have right now. :)
This sounds like it could be really cool. Setting up our own kingdoms will be
fun, and having trade between the regions and maybe some interregional
conflicts could be a really interesting result.

Well, I could try... I have a knack with still life, and I've only tried
a "map view" thing once, but I think I could manage a considerably OK picture
of some terrian stuff.
Also, I have a game called Civilization (some of you might know it) which
comes with a Map editor. It can create random maps or let you plan one
yourself. (Then you can use it for the game.) Their terrian types are quite
nice.
LMK if you want me to try.

Off-topic aside - I love making Civilization maps, Shiri. If
you'd like to trade maps, send me mail.

I think this is a very cool idea. Go for it.
