You might try 6706, hard to see on the picture but I'm pretty sure one of
the soldiers has that head:

In Vic, I've seen stacks of these both in TW stores, and also at GB's. I
guess that they could be absent from Sydney, but frankly that'd be really
weird. Anyway, I think it's worth keeping an eye out for them. If worst
comes to worst, I could send up a couple.

Well, you could hunt the stores on a vain search for a pirate set (been
there, done that) or you could wait until the tenth, and I'll bring along a

I acquired that head in a small eBay lot a few months ago. I put it in a
"special bag" for future reference. I thought that head was different... I
had only seen a similar version with an eyepatch on Capt. Redbeard. The
head I have came from a Blue suited Wild West cavalry officer (The lot
contained an incomplete Fort Legoredo, Sheriff's Office, a 6097 Batlord's
Castle, and some small space sets). I remember that there were many more
spare heads than torsos, so I figured the previous owner had sold me only
part of a collection. None of the Castle or cavalry heads were the same as
the ones pictured in the sets.

I just dug ot my 6769 instructions...
The head was on the Officer with the double-breasted shirt and black pants.
It was sunstituted for the handlebar mustache/beard head.
In the instructions the other bearded heads appear to have a brown beard
like the 1st generation Imperial guard tri-cornered hat officers...I don't
believe any were red in the original set. (You will have to ask someone who
purchased a MIB 6769- both of mine are used+incomplete)
Your observations are appreciated. I never realized the origin of that
minifig head. I also have an incomplete Imp trading post from the first
eBay lot I won. It seems I have one of the minifig heads I need. Now if I
could just accidently acquire a couple more white walls, a Red Admiral and
all the other figs = )

P.S. The Odyssey would be an interesting and challenging subject for a Lego
webpage... Very cool idea!

I noticed that one while scrutinising Brickshelf. The other characters would
be one offs for me and there are a few cute parts (brown saddle, bush base,
flag, bugle, hats). The set's pretty thin on the ground up here, and frankly
it's because we buy more Lego ;^). Let us know if someone spots it on special.

I forgot to post this link to the group last night...
I ran across a small bag of "infantry weapons" that were packed away with
some Space/Aquazone models. I remember designing a few of them after seeing
Swarzenegger's Predator on Laser disc at a relative's house many years ago.
Some of the weapons designs were updated to include a couple new elements
(like the black rods from the SW A-wing). These weapons look much better
with the newer Rock Raider/Adventurer/Castle torsos than they did with my
Classic Space and Spyrius figures.
I haven't posted anything new in .syr in awhile, so I felt it was time = )

I have to second the motion that set 6706 is the set those particular heads
come in. I purchased a slew of them at Kohls for $2@ awhile back. As a

I would have to respectfully disagree = )
I exumed my Wild West figures from my storage closet and compared the 6706
soldier and my "Red" Fox mercenary.
The soldier from 6706 has a brownish red print while my mercenary fig has a
brighter red-orange visage...
let me see if I can throw a comparative jpeg on my webpage.

I tried to provide a few pics (in a whimsical way) illustrating the
difference between the two heads in question = )
The head in 6706 is a couple shades darker than the head on my mercenary.
The "Red" fox head is the same shade of red as the Pirate theme black garbed
Redbeard or the red mustached Dragonmaster.
However, I think that the figure from 6706 would make a good Odysseus as
well =8^)

Really cool -- a lot funnier than "here are the two heads, told you so". How
about Minifig DeathMatch?

Deathmatch was the concept I was aiming for = )

(Possible) special spotted by yours truly. Mosied on down to Target today,
vaguely remembering that a couple of these were floating around a few months
ago. They were still there, except that one of them had been horsectomised
by some thieving brat. But this suited me fine, since the horse was exactly
the one piece I didn't want. So I was expecting maybe a few dollars of the
RRP of $12-15. A combination of some polite inquiries and a disgruntled
checkout chap resulted in a 30% discount, which I thought was alright.
Except that the price turned out to be $7 (-30% = $4.90 = happy boy). They
were closing, and I didn't have time to see if this was a more general
discount or just on this set, but it might be worth checking out. And he
said unto them "Go forth and save $$$".
On a totally different topic, maybe December's STUDSfest can be an
opportunity for showing off some of our favourite minifigs. Just an idea...

Target in Melbourne (City store) had about a dozen or so of the 6706 sets
for $7, tons of 5900 Adventurers for $1.70 and all their slizers for $5
each.

Confirmation of above sighting: _big_ sale at Target (at least on small/old
sets). Picked up the small axe cart, and some other small sets,
for $2 each, and the amazon temple for $10.
In other news, the Monkey Magic Magic Mountain of Monkeys is finally taking
shape (on a 60x60 baseplate assembly)...
