In the last 6 years the Lego Mecha genre has produced thousands of models.

Until now Lego Mecha models were spread across the web...

alone...

scared...

(but well armed)...

and...

homeless...

Until now.

It is my pleasure to announce a new website dedicated to showcasing Lego Mecha

MechaHub.com

Features of the MechaHub include:
  • Gallery of over 60 builders, 800+ models, & 9,000+ pictures.
  • Articles on mecha, Lego, How-to, and more.
  • Forums to share new creations.
  • Chatroom for real time advice or chit chat.
MechaHub Staff:
  • Bryce McGlone - Admin

  • Mark Neumann - Admin

  • Marcus Clancy - Gallery Admin

  • Fradel Gonzales - Editor in Chief

  • Chris Snead - Columnist

  • Soren Roberts - Columnist

  • Adam Silcott - Journalist

  • Austin Bailey - Journalist

  • Marcus Clancy - Journalist

A Special Thanks:

To the beautiful Karla McGlone for generally putting up with all the Lego obsessing including this going live the day after our 9th wedding anniversary.

To Jeff Stembel for offering to host and maintaining the BrickChan forum boards.

To Mladen Pejic for supplying L-Cad drawings quickly, sometimes with little notice.

And last but certainly not least - To the many builders who helped make this site a reality.

Stop by and check out the site!

Thank you,

Bryce McGlone

Hey guys,

Congratulations on the site launch. I’ve just done some brief looking around and it looks really well made. You might even inspire me to try my hand at some mecha building. :) The forum style seems really odd to me, being more used to the Lugnet forum and the phpbb-style forums used at Classic-Castle, Classic Space, FBTB and Eurobricks, but I suppose that is just something to get used to.

Good luck on further growth in the mecha theme. Also good luck in suffering the slings and arrows of those who will claim you are gutting Lugnet. When they complain, point out that while theme specific sites have, admittedly, drained 98% of the traffic from lugnet.castle, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.space, etc, they’ve actually led to much greater overall posting in those themes and fostered new builders. I’m sure that MechaHub will have a similar effect in bringing forth new mecha builders and improving techniques.

Thank you Bruce! We would love to see what you come up with if you ever try mecha. I agree that the 4chan style board is odd to us who are used to phpbb boards. It does take a little bit to get comfortable. But once you try it you’ll never go back! And remember the first time you hit a phpbb board after being used to Lugnet? :-)

Good luck on further growth in the mecha theme. Also good luck in suffering the slings and arrows of those who will claim you are gutting Lugnet.

I believe those who follow the mecha genre understand perfectly well. I’m expecting the rest of the community to be just as positive and “community” as your comments.

I’m hoping for renewed groth and interest in the genre. I’m tired from all the late nights but very excited about the future of Lego Mecha building. Thank you for taking a second to comment.

Q. I sell my Lego Mecha creations. Can I by included in the Mecha Hub?

A. This is a sticky question and one which took quite a while to answer. After consulting several lawyers we have decided not to include builders who make a living selling their Lego creations. This means that if selling your Lego creations is your Primary source of income you cannot be included in the MechaHub. The potential conflicts of interest and copyright issues are simply too complex for a fan based website. We will, however, link to websites of Lego artists.

If you sell instructions we can include them so long as you do not make your living selling them.

Of course, you’re free to have whomever you want in your club; but maybe you could have been more forthright:

Marc, while I respect your right to voice your own opinion, please try to keep any potentially flame hazardous remarks off this forum. I humbly request that you keep any comments to a mature and constructive nature. You are of course, invited and encouraged to post any mecha creations here. I am a fan of your works and would love to see what you can come up with.

I’d like to echo Fradel’s response and add only this:

‘e’ hasn’t contacted the Hub either way. While I can appreciate your creativity at twisting the FAQ to suit your own agenda, the question you quoted was asked well before the Hub went live and not by ‘e’. Hence it was neither asked by ‘e’ nor relates specifically to Eric.

If you have any further concerns please send them to me via email as others may misunderstand your concern and think you are trolling.

I have no agenda and no concerns, I just found it amusing (hence .off-topic.fun). You have to admit, it’s funny that you have this policy that (as far as I know) only applies to one person on the planet - but no one will admit it.

Perhaps I’m a bit stupid but I’m not sure what was particularly funny about your post. Was it intended to make fun of Eric? The mecha hub policy? Something else? If the former then it would appear to me that you are bullying Eric. If the second then I think it would be fair to say you have an agenda. If the third then I really can’t understand.

To respond to your second sentence: maybe people won’t admit to the policy being an anti-Eric policy because they feel that would be antagonistic. It has been made pretty clear before by some Lugnet members (not me) that they don’t want antagonism on the site so perhaps people are respecting those members space. They may also have some consideration for Eric’s feelings. Note that as nothing more than a member and participant of the mecha hub I can’t say this is fact or otherwise, just postulation.

Of course you may simply have cunnningly unravelled a grand conspiracy of epic scale. Maybe you should turn your superior deductive skills to uncovering who killed JFK. I’m sure you’d have an answer in no time at all.
