I invited a friend over this evening to playtest the BrikWars castle-era rules.
Well, the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley, and we wound up
building a setting for a battle, instead. Or, at least half of one, anyway :)
So, without further ado, here's the BrickShelf link:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=592
I've only posted three photos thus far, though I've got more. I'll wait for
natural sunlight to take any more.
The setting is intended to include a river, road and bridge, with a stone tower
overlooking the bridge, a village on the road, a hill, and a small wood.
Nothing west of the river exists, yet, but there's a village of 5 buildings, a
small hill, and a few trees. And four chickens...
Quick question for all those medieval town builders out there - where do you
get all those beige plates for roofing? I've been forced to use black, 'cept
for my one blonde building. :)
AND, for those of you lucky enough to be in/near Toronto this weekend -- who's
up for a little BrikWars? I built it -- anyone wanna come? I've probably got
enough troops for such a small table: 25 peasants, 30 cavalry, 15 pikemen, 25
archers and crossbowmen, and a couple hundred other assorted minifigs. Dragons
at your peril. :)

I found that the Adventurers Egyptian line of Legos is a good source of beige
pieces, especially #5938 Oasis Ambush. The base plate is a good size for small
huts and it seems to be going on sale now. Besides, if you end up buying 10 or
so of the sets for the plate, you'll end up with enough skeletons to make an
undead army (Army of Darkness Lego theme anyone?)

I'll have over 350 troops ready to march into your battlefield by daylight.
You just issue the challenge, and I'll give the command to lay bloody waste to
any challengers.
The field of battle of which you proposed may not be capable of containing my
great legion. My army rests upon 6 large gray base plates, and Id wager that
I could encircle your entire range!
Perhaps if you were to ally yourself with several other neighboring Lords,
then the war may prove to be more of a challenge.
Unfortunately, Im preoccupied this weekend, Ive laid siege to a neighboring
castle. Therefore, perhaps we can arrange another date, and amass more troops,
for a future battle! Mayhap this summer a large scale BrickWars game can be
held in TORONTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Richard

AND we'd run out of potato salad, for certain. No, I'm aware that the table's
a little small for a full-scale war, but I think the BrikWars Medieval rules
need more tweaking before we can commit to something that big, anyway. I'm
thinking of just running a few small-scale (50 troopers a side?) battles to
iron out any bugs and get familiar with things.

Sadly, I have only three allied Lego Lords here in Toronto thus far, and I'm
not sure how much help they'd be: One uses minifgs as gear stops for robots;
the second focuses on his Town; and the third on mecha. Well, maybe the Mecha
would help >:)

Definate yep in a month or two, when I should have a less virtual presence!

Oh my god, that would be the greatest BrikWars setting of all time. On one
side, a Champion with a chainsaw, a shotgun, and a windmillmobile car, leading
a ragtag group of medieval warriors armed with gunpowder bombs in the defense
of a castle. On the other side, a massive army of medieval skeletons and
rotting corpses. It would be unbelievable.

I'd be up for playing it, too bad we don't live closer together. (I'm in
Bellingham, WA right in the middle between Seattle and Vancouver)

This may not help you gentlemen, because I live in Toronto, but Ive already
got a lager undead contingent.
About 50 skeleton warriors (these skeletons arent shabby and rag-tag corpse,
their fully armed and all wear jet-black capes) comprise the back-bone of my
force.
30 fire breathing beasts
15 Wraiths
13 small unit of mounted Grave Guard (light calvary)
6 or 7 Demons
2 Reapers carrying scythes
1 Death Chariot (Blood Runner)
A few vampires, Witches, Necromancers, and Dark Scorers
And one supreme Dark Lord Overseer
Also, Ive made an incredible Crucifix as their War Banner
If anybody wants a WARGAME with and undead horde, just write me and I'll come
for your blood by midnight
Decapitateingly,
Richard

Well, Guinness (being a stout) is an ale, not a lager.
Hmmm... perhaps he is referring to their strong bock-bones (or dopple
bock-bones or even triple bock-bones)? Did he replace the dart-throwers with
dortmunders? Are they planning a malt-assault?
Maybe he originally animated the undead by giving the bodies a quick dunkel in
an enchanted icy lake (maybe that's how he makes Ice Beer, that's a Canadian
invention y'know).
Insert your own bad joke about pilsner here.

Yess, all Dragons... with heavy armor-clad Knights

Each Wraiths warrior is different; I customize most of my elite figures.

Indeed, they are. The Grave Guard Regiment appears as though they were once an
Imperial Roman scouting party. But my Sorceress removed their remains and
reanimated them into servitude.

I've got some pictures
My uncle is a professional Photographer, so he
captured about 50 shots. Im working on a web page. ( Completion in Late
2001) But unless I find a friend whos into Web Page design my site could take
longer

Plow through anything.

Very well then, contact me and we shall War. But, in battle I will field my
whole army, the undead is simple one regiment in my army. I have well over
400 soldiers ready and waiting for my signal, just offer the challenge and
well be ready for the slaughter.
Sincerely,
Richard

The upside down crucifix symbolizes their demonic natures (i.e., from Hell, or
thereabouts...)
