good point. i didnt describe the adventurer fig, hes got dark brown pants,
suspenders and a tanktop t-shirt. hes unshaven, got a smirk and the t-shirt
has a big old brown stain on the front (its nicely detailed two-sided torso
print)...fits your description perfectly of a bum in front of the telly.

Seriously though, thanks for the clarification and parts references. I know
theres a name for the peaked hat I have in mind but couldnt for the life of me
think of that either.

The altar/shrine is a very basic construction of maybe
25-30 pieces that features a standing staff. A small rod fitted behind the
center of the staff can be flicked to knock the staff out of place (ooh, I
hope I can contain my excitement!).
|
LEGOs playability in this feature fell pretty flat. When I tried to flick
the staff over, the axle just lamely pushed it to the side without it being
dislodged. I didnt really mind though, as I wanted that
forked staff to go with the
serpent scepter that came
with the Series #2 MF
Pharaoh.

This set came in at around $10.00 which is pretty reasonable (figuring the
current minifig value at around $3.00 plus a motorcycle) and will make for a
must-have purchase when they get discounted.

Absolutely! Its a great selection of parts for the price.

A great scene--tons of detail and really nice staging.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi all,
I sort of accidentally came up with a new subtheme recently which Ive dubbed
Dogfighters 2137 and
where the aesthetic is a little bit art deco, a little bit retro future and a
little bit WWII. Its rare for me to stick to a style for consecutive MOCs but
Im fairly happy with both of these. The
Laughing Lothario is
old but I think it kind of matches the look.
Hope you enjoy.

Great work, as always.
The tank seems perhaps a little wide, but the sculpting on the leading edge of
the tracks is very nice.
Spotlighted.

Hi,
It's not precisely a castle, it's not really adventurers, so wasn't sure where
to post...sorry. Advice on that welcome by email.
The empire of Brickistan, ruled by the cruel Timurlego, is guarded by the
Brickistan gateway fort...my somewhat rough interpretation of a Mughal red
sandstone fort, such as the Lal Qilal in Delhi or that in Agra. I have a strong
hobby interest in Islamic architecture, particularly that of Central and South
Asia, so I hope to further develop and expand this into a town layout based on
my vision of a town in that region from...anywhere from the 15th to the 19th
century.
The hardest part of this MOC was getting the octagonal towers right - the
structural tension makes them pretty easy to break, and I didn't want just to
use the technic corner bricks, b/c I couldn't get the geometry right, and they
forced me to leave some gaps I didn't like. I will likely use those, however,
for some octagonal minaret sections down the road. The MOC currently occupies 2
x 2 of the 48 stud baseplates, I'm planning 2 x 5 for Brickfair in August, with
more fort and some interior buildings (palace, imperial library, audience
chamber perhaps), mostly loosely derived from those found in the Lal Qilal (Red
Fort) in Delhi, but I do mean loosely. This isn't meant to be a historical
replica by even a longshot, it's an interpretation. And I've also moved it to a
rocky desert setting, thinking of the Chambal valley in India or anyone of a
number of frontier locations in Pakistan/Afghanistan, b/c I liked what I could
try with the landscape.
Anyways, comments welcome!
