They are real. Pictures of them surfaced a while ago from an illicitly
scanned retailer's catalogue on Brickshelf, which for obvious reasons is no
longer available on line.

They are best described as  Technic "BattleBots", with the most expensive
sets consisting of 2 such robots and what look like infra-red controllers.

Thanks! I got a few questions though:

-Wouldn't the infared signals get mixed up?
-Are the Bionicle "Manas" (pulling out Bionicle comic book to check spelling)
set part of the line?
-Is the "Hammer & Beakon" set an accessory pack?

Hopefully, nobody will think they can make a robot good enough to fight on the
BattleBots TV show. We all know the consequences of that:
