They are real. Pictures of them surfaced a while ago from an illicitly
scanned retailer's catalogue on Brickshelf, which for obvious reasons is no
longer available on line.
They are best described as Technic "BattleBots", with the most expensive
sets consisting of 2 such robots and what look like infra-red controllers.
