  Re: A Study On Martians

(...) Yes, but what about the flight from Earth to Mars? It's not like Lego bothered to make the cockpit of the Solar Explorer airtight (and why would they do something sensible like that?). Anyway, can we say "frostbite". No, wait, the Martian (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

2001 Creator Max & Tina sets (was: Latest update from LEGO Direct)

(...) pages 36-37 Of course the web link <www.lego.com/creator> printed in the catalog is not yet available. I don't know why TLC keeps promoting web site URLs before they are active. On a positive note, I was able to find some of the Creator sets (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: (holiday 98 catalog) was: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

MANY THANKS to Michael Edwards!! He sent me the scan of the page I wanted from the catalog! I can not thank you enough. Also, many thanks go out to Tom Stangl - he was helping me also - lol - I got 2 emails almost at the same time, one from each of (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

In lugnet.space, Jonathan Mizner writes: ..... (...) Mars is not in a vacuum, it has an atmosphere, but a very cold one! (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Lego cutting plates in Catalogue Dioramas (Was and part of it still is Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality... [long])

(...) I stand corrected (as I suspected I might :) -- But I'm pretty sure they add extra minifigs still - and of course trees. (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.town)

  Re: A Study On Martians

(...) I find this study interesting, and it is really strange also. The strange thing about it is that TLC would assign so many character identities to such a new thread (kudos!), but add so few to classic threads (such as the Knight's Kingdom). (...)   Re: Lego cutting plates in Catalogue Dioramas (Was and part of it still is Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality... [long])

(...) I think you meant the Ice Planet base... (...) They also did so in the UK catalog scene above... Notice the road between the police station and the garage (car park) is separated from the 3 prong driveway by 2 studs.   Re: Lego cutting plates in Catalogue Dioramas (Was and part of it still is Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality... [long])

(...) That little blue car is actually the blue car from the service tower set. Look closely at it and you will see the exact same one in the picture at the base of the car lift. Kyle Henneberque (25 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.town)

Re: Lego cutting plates in Catalogue Dioramas (Was and part of it still is Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality... [long])

(...) Basically they only used available sets (especially when it comes to buildings/structures, but I believe adding minifigs and sometimes misc vehicles etc. was not uncommon. (URL) and plates are of course added, minifigs are added, and I think (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.town)

Lego cutting plates in Catalogue Dioramas (Was and part of it still is Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality... [long])

(...) See this page in the same catalogue. (URL) lift is made using a rack and cog that also came in the big Ice Planet ship and the Europort Container Base. In all there catalogues, the dioramas always only used sets that could be purchased (I (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general, lugnet.town)

Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

(...) I believe that it and the shell gas station on the baseplate next to it were all part of one set, the metro park and service tower. (25 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

(...) Sorry to have to post again, but what is that car/vehicle lift in that picture? Is that a real set, or just a one-time Lego piece to fit in with the scene? Does anyone know? (25 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

(...) I know this has little to do with the original message, of which I fully agree with, but I must mention something. In the only magazine example I didn't remove, I believe I can see Captain Ahnee! Yes, this is strange, but I really think the (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

  New LoM Commercial

Just saw a LoM commercial a few minutes ago. It starts out with the 7315 Solar Explorer being built and a computer-like voice going "It appears that we were wrong about there being Life on Mars. Their technology is very-very advanced." or something (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)
