Well, the 2001 catalog has been posted and (no surprise here)-there are no Rock
Raiders or anything even remotely underground-based. It looks like Rock Raiders
goes the way of all the themes before it- space, pirates, town.

Who knows if six months from now we'll find a RRHQ on a shelf collecting dust
and still be able to purchase it? The way K-mart is discounting th HQ, we might
not see them past March 2001.

My only wish is that a suitable replacement for the Rock Raiders had been
attempted rather than the dissolution of the sub theme altogether.

Sorry, TLG, but movie makers just won't cut it. I don't need more town figs
holding cameras cluttering up my collection. Alpha Team? Don't make me laugh. If
anything, it's Rock Raiders meets Res Q meets Bellville.

Give me Rock Raiders or give me...uh, hey, this Mission to Mars stuff has
possibilities...hmmm

Okay, here I start a fight, but I don't believe that Underground should even
exist as a thread apart from Space.  In the way that the Rock Raiders team
is described by TLC, they are deep mining on an asteroid or planetary body
in outer space.  They should be snug in around Insectoids, Space Port (I
know it's primarily Town, but bear with me.), and Life On Mars.  In my
opinion that is where Rock Raiders should fit.  Star Wars ain't Space, it is
it's own sub-theme and fantasy world.  And I REALLY hope that Studio does
NOT continue beyond 2001, they are nothing more than over-priced parts sets.
I just hope that 2002 has more Space exploration type sets, REAL Town (not
junior), Pirate/Imperial Guards and a TON of Castle.  Anything else would
just be gravy.
Point:  Rock Raiders was not stand alone enough to warrant a sub-theme
appart from Space.
Aaron (please don't throw any tomatoes!)
