Yes... SR did have 44 tonners in the tuxedo paint scheme:

SR's cow/calf units were actually delivered as TR2 (transfer) loco sets (based on one NW2A and one
NW2B loco).  They were later separated, so it would have been theoretically possible to see an
NW2A+NW2B+NW2B lashup (though not very likely).  One of those LEGO NW2 calfs is already destined for
the scrap yard (it was a 'practice' model).

And yes... herds were rare... C&O was the only road to purchase the NW2s in herds.
