    Franchising Spamcake? —John Neal
As we at the GMLTC rebuild our layout and create a whole new town section, I had an idea which I thought would be pretty fun. Wouldn't it be fun to build a Spamcake Diner on the GMLTC layout? Then I thought: wouldn't it be fun if the Spamcake Diner (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

To All, (...) Neat idea. I was also thinking of maybe having something to illustrate all the different clubs in our little collective here. I rememer that train show thing from Califronia, where everyone submitted a box car. Maybe we can have (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

John, I like it, that does sound like a fun idea. The shirt with the cities listed would be great! Lets make it happen. jt ---- James J. Trobaugh (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

        Re: Franchising Spamcake? —Eric Kingsley
Sounds like fun to me as long as the Dinner doesn't have to many rare parts to make it prohibative. Of course I guess they don't all have to be identical as long as they all follow a basic theme (Both color wise and architechurally). I know all the (...)          Re: Franchising Spamcake? —John Neal
(...) I don't think that the parts are too rare. Here is the official Spamcake Diner web site-- see for yourself (although I know that the outside has undergone subsequent revision since those pics were taken-- I saw the completed model at the (...)      (...) Looks good, I actually think I remember it now. The only thing I see missing is a nice sign running down the center of the roof with the diner logo on it. (...) I think we could stay true to the Spamcake while adding a special local "flavor" (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

         Re: Franchising Spamcake? —Frank Filz
(...) Well, unless they are in a current set, any group which doesn't happen to have someone who picked one up, might have a hard time finding one. I certainly don't have one (I guess with this idea in mind, I'd better pick up one of those eggs if I (...) (24 years ago, 22-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

        Re: Franchising Spamcake? —Paul Sinasohn
OTOH, since Tom has a new mouth to feed, I would support his membership in the GoB with the diner as his first available set. Thus he could sell the set and get some well-deserved remuniration (1) for the time, effrot, and enjoyment involved. Larry, (...)
