A lot of the bouncing around has been of what I*LTC would
be/do/want/need/whatever. Here's a proposal, in an attempt to move things
forward a bit more quickly. Obviously, this should/will need tweaking; it's
based on what I've seen bandied about, and what I think people are aiming at.
I*LTC: International (something) of LEGO Train Clubs
(name to be finalized elsewhere; current proposals are Congress,
Brotherhood and Organization)
Statement of Purpose:
To provide a loose organization that can serve as a common ground for all
groups and individuals that show LEGO trains at public events.
Scope & Boudaries of I*LTC:
I*LTC is intended to be a forum for discussion of matters that pertain to
multiple LEGO train displayers, or that have a broader range than a single
group. Examples would be honorariums from Train organizations, cross-group
standards or multi-club displays or gatherings.
I*LTC is also intended to be a single entity that can be used to
demonstrate to outside organizations (particularly train show organizers)
that there is a significant community of LEGO train enthusiasts
I*LTC is not a parent organization, and has no particular or direct
authority over any member or member organization. Also, I*LTC does not have
the authority to speak on behalf of any member organization without clear
approval beforehand.
Membership in I*LTC:
Any club, group, or individual that displays LEGO trains, or intends to do
so, is welcome to participate in I*LTC, preferably by means of a chosen
representative (or representatives).

| A number of us must have all independently decided that a little facilitation/summarization would be a good idea. I think this is an excellent statement of purpose. In lugnet.trains.org, James Brown writes: <snip> (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)
