Re: Yet more pics of new trains

(...) The new points set also contains 4 curves as opposed to the 2 in the 9V set. (The points set also has the same 2 x left hand photo error) Tim (19 years ago, 1-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.year.2006)

Spybotic control of train speed regulator

Hello all, Lets put in front what I find a smart improvement of the basic (soon old) train 9V speed regulator. (URL) This is a picture that arrived very recently on brickshelf showing how to adapt a spybotic to control at distance a 9V train speed (...) (19 years ago, 1-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

My thoughts on the new battery-powered IR-controlled trains (BPIR trains)... First a quick summary of the reports that I've read here on lugnet.trains. 1. IR controller has three different channels. a. IR controller can switch between channels or (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Useful Track and Electrical Data

Regular browsers of Brickshelf might have noticed that I added a new track plans section to my gallery: (URL) the 9V folder (URL) there are useful modules such as Curves (URL) and Double Bends (URL) , conforming to various minimum radii depending on (...) (...) But moving to 9v from 4.5v gave you significant advantages and was an upgrade which added value. The new trains are already good - remote control, sound, cheap track, reverse loop capabilities, cab control etc. so the change to 9v rail powered (...)   Re: New Trains and BBB Wheels? (was: Re: Still more)

(...) Yep, I can only dream that the adjusted the gear ratio in the new motors. The current 9v train motors run way to fast, I'd gladdly trade that for a bit more torque. But even at differnt speeds, the BBB wheels have less traction, allowing them (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  SpeedRail TGV Thalys

Hi all, Ran across some photos of this train ((URL) 1>, (URL) 2>, (URL) 3>, (URL) 4>) the other day and thought it rather neat: a Thalys TGV in different colours. The real thing was to run between Sydney and Canberra but cost too much so never (...) (19 years ago, 22-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !

New Trains and BBB Wheels? (was: Re: Still more)

(...) Good question. I'm eager to order a set and find out how BBB wheels will do with the new battery powered trains. I've tried BBB wheels with the 845 motor: (URL) Which easily accepts a technic axle. With large BBB drivers, at 9V the speed is a (...)   Re: New Trains and BBB Wheels? (was: Re: Still more)

(...) I wonder if you could use the new IR motor in a steam engine, driving the drivers, and an old 9V motor in the tender. With a wire between the two, you could have a double-powerful steam engine, with powered drivers and standard transformer (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

(...) Forgive me if it has been covered before, but the primary question I'd like to ask is whether TLC will continue to produce the old 9v track and 9v motors - and then, if so, will new sets be released based on those old units? Thanks, Derek (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Thoughts on Spy Photos of New Trains
