_modern_ US prototypes (those more recent than DOT 103 10 000 gal tank cars)
don't have a separate frame. Older tank cars did have separate frames, and DOT
103's lasted until quite recently (and still do exist, just not in interchange
service, just like wooden cars :)

I just bought 2 droid escape pods to have a play at making a CNWB or CPWB car
(They don't seem to come up...the blue grain hoppers, if you have seen
them...). I think they will work, but it may take a bit of engineering to make
one, and a sheet of blue paper (to wrap around).
