Hi all,

I'm coming out of my dark ages as it seems to be called in these lists. Last
year I went to a shop to my my daughter her first Lego and thought I'd just
get myself a little Technic cart. Oops. We're now 12 sets later, and all my
old Lego no longer lives in my parents attic....
Anyway, to the point. My main interests at the moment are Robotics and
Serious Modelling. For the latter it seems trains are a great opportunitie:
nice scale, enough detail. And growing up with a dad who has 50 N-scale
trains.... Anyway, my problem is where to start? There are simply no
intersting train sets at the moment. What sets would be recommended? Or what
parts should I get from Brickbay, Baylit and the likes? I'd like to start
with some small engines, steam or Diesel...

Thanx!

Ronald,
When I discovered that LEGO made trains (a scant 8 months ago),I also came out
of my dark ages. You see, I always had LEGO when I was a child (the 80's)but
never was aware of LEGO's 4.5v and 12v trains.
The set that got me started was #4561, this has track, the speed controller
all in one. But the trains(in this set)leave much to be desired. Set 4565 is
much better looking, but you will have to order these from LEGO Shop at Home.
Lego trains are truly expandable, in that theres more track, accessories to
build large layouts. Most of us LEGO fans build our own trains and/or modify
existing sets to our liking. Here area couple more links to really spark your
interests...

http://www.brickshelf.com  - You can post pictures of your creations
here.
http://www.brickbay.com  - Need parts or sets that aren't
availiable? Brickbay is the place to go.
Best of luck with your LEGO hobby, hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
