No, it's made from a bunch of little bricks. <bah dump-bump>

Sorry but I could not resist. Actually, in the MR hobby, dry transfer
lettering is used a lot as well if there are no ready made decals
available. Sounds like Robin is talking about stick on lettering rather
than dry transfer.

Ways to letter (1):
1. Decal - applied wet, these are slid off their paper backing via lots
of water, then they dry in place, shrinking slightly as the water is
removed. In MR applications you spray on an outer coat of clear paint to
protect them. Those of us that have copies of Steve Barile's engine know
that is not the case with his model and we have to be very very careful
not to scratch the decals or they will be ruined.

2. Dry transfer - this is "burnished" on, that is, it comes on a backing
and you rub them onto the item to letter by writing on the back side of
the backing really hard with a soft lead pencil or a blunt smooth ended
instrument.

3. Stickers - These are paper or plastic film with an adhesive back, and
I assume this is what Robin uses.

All of these can be removed from a brick with little or no damage to the
brick, although the lettering will be destroyed.

4. Paint - Either using a stencil or with a very steady hand. Paints
that stick to the brick will not come off easily, so the bricks are
permanently marked.

Hope that helps!

1 - I never use any of these myself, too purist, but I made a special
exception in the case of Steve's Chessie, which is currently on display
in the office in my house.
