Help to identify a train set !! —Steven Draves
I picked up 100LBS of Lego this weekend and have sorted through it. I found an early train set, black engine, separate black battery box, 18 long curved track, 16 short curved track, and 8 straight track. Also eighteen wheel for the track, and five (...)      (...) The best way to cut down the possibilities is to isolate what it isn't. It isn't 9 Volt, since the track is multi-piece. There was no mention of conductor rails, so that rules out 12V. For the 4.5 Volt, there are 107 entries in Pause. Many are (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Also the red and blue couplers were only used in the blue era. (...) 182 have their couples attached to the cars baseplate. In fact the wheelsets are fixed to the plate.    Just noticed I indicated set 116, I should have put set 127 as the one I think I have, any idea where one could download instruction? Steven (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Help to identify a train set !! —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
(...) Hi Steven! Sorry to tell you, but I have no spare 4551 at hand, otherwise I would have liked to make a deal 127 against 4551. Actually 127 and 116 are roughly the same with two main differences: 116 has no magnetic couplings, but the older (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Help to identify a train set !! —Steven Draves
Hi Ben, This is a puzzle, I suppose it is possible that I have what is left of two sets. The motor is 3-1/3 brick high, and the battery box opens from the top. The motor and the battery box work great and are in great shap as are most of the pieces (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)
