You can pass against the setting of the point reliably. In fact, someone has
posted some interesting train layouts which rely on this feature to allow two
trains travelling in opposite directions to take different but partially
overlapping paths through a layout.

| Hello all; I just recently started collecting monorail track and sets for my future project. I was pleasantly surprised to see how the points or switches work. The way the switches are automatically thrown if approached in the wrong position is (...) (25 years ago, 18-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)
