I have a few questions about some of the history of passenger train color
schemes. I'm deciding which color I want to build a passenger train. The
book I'm using for reference (if you want to follow along) is the Walters HO
1999 reference book. On page 232 I found a Union Pacific vista dome car
that is painted in what looks like either black and grey or dark grey and
light grey. It says these are 1930's erra stream liners. What years did
Union Pacific have these colors and when did they change to the
yellow-red-grey paint scheme? Also on the same page is a vista dome Great
Northern car that appears to be either red with a black stripe or orange
with a black stripe. Does anyone know the history of color schemes for
great northern that can answer my question? Anyone? Anyone? Larry? :^)
Thanks,
John Warren
