I also ordered two of the BNSF train sets the day they became available. After
I processed the order online I phoned shop@home to inquire if the sets were
going to be available and to make sure this was not a fluke. I was told that a
shipment of the BNSF trains was somehow located and was being shipped to the
U.S. At the time of my phone call, by phone I was told there was a 30 day
shipping back log while on-line it was showing a 14 day backlog. After the
shipment is sold out the trains will be discontinued and will not show up in the
inventory again. I know that the sets were showing up in Europe for some time
now, as evidenced by Bricklink and E-bay. I also checked with both of the LEGO
stores located in the Washington DC area and was told that they were not
expected to get any, but there is no control over what is being shipped to the
stores right now.
I intended to order two additional sets, but discovered today that the set is no
longer even showing up on the LEGO site.

| (...) Sorry for replying to my own post, but I just checked the LEGO site for Europe and discovered that the BNSF is showing available now as well as the Santa Fe Super Chief engine. CDC (18 years ago, 14-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains)
