Hi Erik,
Nice job Tim.
The improvements I imagine :
- Colors : replace yellow by tan. The colors must be washed out.
Actually wasnt much improvement. It was too earthy and not washed out enough.
Light yellow would be perfect but it has too limited a range of plates.
- When I look the original picture, the first thing which comes to me is the vertical lines, resulting of the rust which flown. I will translate this by using SNOT.
Do you think it would be worth sacrificing the horizontal lines for this? I was
originally planning more vertical but thought it would break the horizontal too
badly.
Lot of plates in SNOT 90 in various colors (different browns,
different greys, sand blue...) will bring a good texture.
I have both browns there. New greys would be useful (thanks Tim too) and sand
blue is another good one.
Using some tiles
instead of plates will add a piece of relief thanks to the grooves (some
people at BF06 should know that grooves can have effects on texture :) )
Ahhh... the dreaded tile ends ;)
- For the lower white part, the use of Technic brick with brown Technic pins ( I didnt check if they really exist, but with CAD, everything is possible) will simulate round iron stains. Furthermore, the hole of the pin can represent a hole in the steel.
Unfortunately they dont seem to come in brown. I want anything I do to be
buildable so I wont cheat.
Thank you very much.
A CAD file would be welcome ;)
Its on its way.
