Long time readers may recall my repeated ranting against using stacked • technic
plates for the receivers of the pin on bogie plates.

What is a better approach? Can you provide a link?

I was wondering if you could substitute an axle pin for that 2-stud • axle, to
get a little more grip, but it looks like the plates above are two 2x4
technic plates in a T-arrangement.  So, there's no way the pin could • click in

or put 1-wide plates to surround the hole, either.

Apparently the design may possibly have room for improvement. Having the • trucks
fall away when you pick the car up may not be the best approach.
