I find it amusing that there's so much grousing now after we got a whole 4 or 5
sets. (you can't count the two new "mainstream" sets or any of the
accessories... they're all european!)

They're not though - they don't work for European fans any more than they work
for Americans.  Just because they don't look like American prototypes you assume
they must therefore satisfy everyone else, and they don't.

You can't claim they're non-prototypical sets for children one minute, then act
as though they're specific dedicated European replicas the next.

On top of which there's more than one country in Europe with their own history
of railways.  The earlier Lego trains were German in design and nothing else, so
that argument doesn't wash.  Then there are more, fascinating trains throughout
the rest of the world.

It's not just the case of a few sets.  When those few sets are all that are on
offer, I think it's a fair complaint.

(...) Fair cop. How big are train shows elsewhere though? How big is the market elsewhere? In Singapore, no one I talked to (small sample) had even heard of a train show! I suggest that there IS a market here, one worth trying to serve. The US (...) (19 years ago, 3-May-05, to lugnet.trains)
