I went to the Colorado Mills Lego outlet store on Friday and noticed a shipment
of 10001’s that just arrived.  I asked the sales person when he received them in
and he said a couple of days ago!  I purchased a 10133, and a 10027 and as I was
walking out the door decided to check how much the 10001 was going for.  To my
surprise it was selling for $79.95!  I was even more shocked than before and I
asked the sales person if this truly was the selling price.  He told me that
Lego was drastically reducing the price of the Metro Liner to get rid of extra
inventory.  I checked shop at home and the price still remains $149.  I don’t
know exactly what that means, but maybe 2005 will be the last year for the
10001.  I know speculation about this topic has come up before, but I have never
seen the 10001 sell for such a low price!  As we know the 10002 came and left
and never went down in price at the shop at home.  Were did all of the 10002
sets go?  Maybe they were fleeced out to the outlet stores and then “sold out.”
Could the 10001 be headed for a similar end?
