   Hi,

I browsed the s@h when I saw this on the kit K4519 Cross Track Kit : http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?p=K4519

“Will not work with circle track found in #4511 High Speed Train Kit & #K4511 Passenger Train Kit.”

I watched the details, and yes, with only the kit K4519 and the tracks of the train 4511, it’s impossible to make the layout which is showed on the pics ( only on the larger image) : it’s missing 2 straight tracks. But I think the warning is not appropriate : we can think that the tracks from the kit are not compatible with the tracks and/or the motor from the train set (it was my first reaction). Even if we buy this kit, we can make a bigger layout, which would be different from the exemple.

I believe it’s a bad error of communication.

I just passed this (very good) comment on to the legoshop.com team. I’ve heard back that this is on their to-do list and they’re working on improving it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Can I suggest that the cross track kit be made like set 159 (blue rails), having a pack of straights included with the crossing?

Perhaps, to cut the cost of the set, the number of straights would be 2, if that is the minimum necessary for use with #4511 or #K4511, or 6 since the standard oval supplied with many 9V train sets has 1 straight each side.

Having said that, one of the few right angle crossings in Britain is at Newark (a double track one requiring 4x#4519 to model it). There are many diamond crossings though. What’s the balance of crossing types in the US?

I’ve not personally bought any 9V right angle crossings, though I have some 4.5V blue and 12V grey ones. I try to model railways on the real thing and modelling Newark crossing would take up too much room and require good signalling to avoid crashes!

A Lego diamond crossing would be nice - it would save us having to think about serious modding of 2 straight pieces to make our own. I remember someone did it a while ago, but I’m not that brave yet!
