I didn't do it for realism, I did it because it works well and makes the train
much easier to assemble on the track. But my main goal was zero clearance
between the coaches when travelling on a straight and that it achieves.

Actually the magnets aren't essential to the design, you could easily replace
them with a single Technic thin beam but it would make it harder to assemble.
Plus it wouldn't be able to take inclines without some modification to allow
the beam to bend.
