On the frequently quoted Santa Fe Fallen Flags page
http://www.midwestnpioneer.org/timetable/fallenflags/superchief.html the
passenger cars appear to have a board in the centre below the windows, and the
baggage and RPOs have similar boards in three locations. All appear to bear
some kind of wording.
Does anyone have any idea what might be typical wording? I'm assuming the
passenger cars had individual names - like the British Pullman carriages of
old. I want to finish off my MOC cars with customised stickers (sorry if
this offends!).
Response from Larry Pieniazek (published with permission):
<quote>
Many "name trains" in the US (similar to say "the Flying Scotsman" in the UK)
have individually named cars. The names typically are put on the car in the
center, below the windows, at eye level for low level platforms.
So that's almost certainly what these are, there is a roster somewhere I have
seen that actually gives the names for some of the cars, you may want to dig
that up and use those names if you want maximum authenticity.

Can anyone direct me to the roster to which Larry refers?

| (...) I did a google using "super chief car names" and found this site in the first 10 returned. (URL) linked to (URL) is the name list I remember seeing before Note that the main atsfrr site is linked to from the fallen flags ref so often cited (...) (22 years ago, 15-Sep-02, to lugnet.trains)
